There was a small rust coloured fly sitting on a kale plant near my carrot/parsnip seedlings this morning. I suspect it's a carrot Fly - if so it will be a bit annoying as the this is on a small raised bed which is covered with a fitted enviromesh cover which is only lifted when I water or weed.
My carrot and parsnip seedlings which were thinned only yesterday and have only just developed their first true leaves. So at the moment there isn't much for a maggot to burrow in to.
Is it too late to apply the nematode for carrot fly? it could be delivered in about 10 days.
