Cucamelon experts?

So ive been growing a couple of cucamelon plants and they look great. I have small cucas on them with yellow flowers, but some of them juat drop off the plants? Do they need to be pollinated in order to fully grow into edible fruit? Or do they just grow by themselves and i shudnt worry?

I only ask cos im growin them on my balcony and we dnt get many bees this high up haha

Perhaps you could hand pollinate? Get a paintbrush,cottonwool bud,or fingers and rub the pollen from one flower to the other. Same as you would with chillies good luck

I am having pollination issues with several things this year. I would hand pollinate to be on the safe side.

I had a similar issue last year. The first month once they started flowing looked great but nothing came of the flowers just the small fruit dropping off. They did come good later on and a got a half decent crop. I'm sure I asked the same question and someone came back and said that the male flowers come later in the season so maybe once that happens the fruit will set. I've not done them this year though.....

Been growing them for the last few years. Find the best way is to neglect them except for some water and then they grow like weeds. Have had better crops that way than when I look after them.

could not have put it better myself only to add....stop looking at them,the flowers are so small and insignificant,one day you will suddenly find lots of them,

Mine aren't exactly rampant but still no flower in site either.

And now they are covered in fruit. and I've just picked the first grape-sized one today. Underwhelming.

Mine aren't doing much, although to be fair they were being squished by the rampant cucumbers and were putting all their efforts into escaping to the melon troughs. Now I've restrained the cuces they may have a chance to do something.
