2015 potato harvests

Harvested the 2nd half of a box with Pentland Javelin today. 4 1/2 lb which makes that 8 lb all up with 4 seed potatoes

I should probably add that the growing mixture was fresh hotbin compost with a bit of vermiculite added, but basically completely home made, chicken bones, eggshells, chunks of wood and all.

Nice! I will give that a go next year (memory permitting!). I've just got my hotbin ticking over nicely.

Harvested my first row of Arran Pilot so far. Reasonable yield but the potatoes are horrible. Really floury and flavourless, and fall apart on cooking. Even the slugs have left them alone. I guess they haven't had enough water. Didn't grow Lady Christl as previously due to the slug damage last year. Got another row to go yet. Time to think about next year.

My Arron Pilot were disapointing too. Really dry, but make terrible roasts despite that. Boiled is just about best but not a good taste, a bit bitter. They are really dense hard things, but yes, also fall apart on the cooked bit. I ate some this evening. Disapointing.

Pretty potatoes. Taste fairly good. I got 875g from a flower bucket with these, grown for 130 [edit: what was I thinking? I meant 99] days. BUT I don't know what they are. Can anyone tell me what variety they are? These were given by the local garden centre to my daughter at an event for kids in the spring, unlabelled.

I turned out my first 50L pot today which I had put 4 vivaldi seeds in 110 days ago, these are my favourite variety, so been looking forward to these...
Got 4.5KG of gorgeous tubers. Pretty happy with that! My best harvest yet. These were the first potatoes I have dug up that had pretty much finished their growing, with the foliage having yellowed and started dying back.

I thought I was doing well, but 11.5lb from 4 seed potatoes is amazing!

They look lovely! That's about 1.3kg per seed, which is outstanding. Especially in a 40L pot. How long were they growing and what fertiliser did you use?
