Got some little bonus potatoes, just 113g but it was an experiment really. I replanted one of the Lady C plants I dug up three weeks ago as it was still healthy in a flower bucket. It was limp most of the time as I could have been more careful digging it really. Anyway it quickly produced these small bonus potatoes and was trying to make another dozen or so, so with abut more deliberate thought you could probably get two worthwhile crops.

Two flower buckets of what is probably kestrel:
974g
1051g (but five were very green, too close to the top, so lost about a quarter).
And a short flower bucket of Lady C. 866g. A few had split though none were ruined (I think the shorter bucket couldn't retain enough moisture).

I cut the tops off my collection of second earlies last week as they looked a bit like they were getting Alternaria to me but just in case it's blight I'm waiting two weeks before digging. However, the cats couldn't resist the empty soil and so one or two have been exposed they look really good, covered them back over but I'm really looking forward to seeing how many and how big next week."A life lived in fear is a life half lived."
PS. I just don't have enough time to say hello to everyone as they join so please take this as a delighted to see you here!

Having broken a seed tray and had potatoes all over the floor last time I tried to weigh some, I've ordered one of those hand held digital scales that you weigh luggage with. I'm forbidding myself to harvest any more potatoes until it arrives - I have some Rocket stored from earlier to tide me over.A life is like a garden. I stupidly put two plants that will mature at different times in the same large 60ishL pot. I had 4 picasso and 1 sarpo mira in there and the latter is still going strong. But I harvested what is probably most but not all of the piccaso, and got 3,740g (8.2lb) which I am very happy with. I put all the soil back in so the SM has loads of room to grow now.
The skins are surprisingly tough on these but I dont mind as they are a great size for roasts and found last night that they are quite suited to it! I will be growing these again, and qualify alongside Vivaldi, Red Duke of York and Lady C so far. (Lovely looking crop of Lady C you have got there by the way @potstubsdustbins)

#287 Snow.... have yet to touch my Picasso though they look to be finishing early this year. 3 more dustbins of Lady C before I get to the Picasso.
I am surprised to hear you say your Picasso have tough skins, its not something I have noticed before and have grown them for a few years now.Potty by name Potty by nature.

1 bag of Charlotte - 3 seed potatoes. 1.8kg (nearly 4lb).
This has to be the most astonishing potato harvest in a year when almost every time I have harvested some I have been astonished. 3 seed potatoes were planted outside in a bag of home made compost, blood fish and bone and vermiculite on 20th March. The bag was jammed into a small space in my old wooden compost bin, against a north facing wall, with an east facing wall 2ft away on one side, a dustbin of more potatoes to the north and a water butt with more potatoes to the west. In effect these potatoes were grown almost in the dark. They also did not have the advantage of being started off at the sunnier side of the garden, as I did with the ones I have grown in buckets.
I was expecting about 2lb of potatoes from these, if I was lucky. Last year Pentland Javelin grown in this postion produced a few potatoes (which I didn't weigh) but certainly nothing like this! I can only think that the addition of vermiculite helped to retain water and made the difference.Attached FilesA life is like a garden.
