Can I use the soil?

My potatoes that are in grow sacks are nearly ready to turn out and I'm wondering if I can re-use that soil to fill up another one of my raised beds that will soon be empty?

I'm planning to sow some green ferilizer on it and then turn it in to improve the soil...will it improve the soil enough to replace whatever was lost from the potatoes?

If not, what else could i add in to improve the soil enough to get a good amount of nutrients?

Yep, chuck it on. Not sure about the nutrient value but certainly helps the structure. Make sure there's no little potatoes lurking in there or you'll get volunteers next year.

You could throw in a few handfuls of growmore if you haven't got any composted manure.
Depends on what you plan to grow in it??

Mix in some 7-7-7 general fertiliser, growmore as suggested or maybe blood fish and bone. They are both suitable for most crops.

That is what happens to mine, grow potatoes and then empty it on a raised bed (or whereever). Find I need to add manure at times to add to the organic matter in the bed. But the bed has very good soild now and I have had to raise the thing at least twice.

It is a good way of steadily incrementing a raised bed over a period of time.

I have three raised beds at home. We are in rented and the past few people haven't done anything with the beds apart from dump their rubbish on them.
I just empty the potato bags out and break the soil down with a rake and mix it all in. This year I added some muck into it to add matter into them so its not just MPC in them.

The green manure you sow won't add amy additional nutrients (except nitrogen if ot contains legumes). It will loco amy nutrients up until composted to stop them being washed away, build up carbon from the air which will then turn into humus and improve the soil and help suppress weeds. - so growing green manure will help you improve the soil.

To increase the nutrients add bfb to ot when you mix in the spud soil
