When you said 'lean to' I pictured a blow-away green house for some reason... But it did make me wonder - I have one in my porch to add protection to the little lemon tree in the winter and to raise seeds in spring, and as the weather improves I remove the cover but leave the frame in place. I wonder if you could make something like this for next time? Not sure a blow-away as such would work where you live! But you could possibly build a heavier duty wooden frame for example, like the ones people make to protect their brassicas? Then you could cover or not, depending on weather, and be left with a nice solid frame around your plants against the wind?
I would do and do exactly what Scarlet suggested,a cane in each corner. Instead of string I use canes clipped horizontaly to the uprights maybe at two feet and 3 feet even 4 feet high. the plants in the middle will just lean on the ones at the edge. If you can attach a corner cane to a fence so much the better.
Thank you all! I think I have a solution from your great suggestions. If I build like a vertical box kite construction that would work? I think that was your proposal Bill and Scarlet? Yes?
