  • In a pickle.....

    Afternoon all
    As some of you may be aware I recently acquired my 1st plot and to get to the point I'm trying to get organised and think ahead to my virgin full season!

    So....my question is what variety of onions and shallots do you recommend for best pickling results? I'm planning on growing from seed.

    Not that I am any good at advising on onion varieties. However, what is your preference for finished pickle onions small silverskin type, or larger types, then do you prefer sweet or traditional suck ya cheeks in pickled onions, or are you after something for mixed pickles? Sorry for all the questions but different varieties give better results depending on the finished product.

      Thanks for the reply......I'm thinking more down the eye watering route than the sweet variety! I should have made myself clearer!
