Himalayan Balsam - what to do?

I've seen quite a few Himilayan Balsam plants growing on or near my plot, I've pulled them all up, and am binning not composting them.

What is the best way to keep this 'weed' at bay?

(I do think is is quite a nice looking weed, but very, very invasive)

Just pull it up and compost it before it flowers, or it'll ping it's seeds all over your plot!

There is quite a bit of info if you have a bit of a gooogle- mostly pdf files from government/environmental agencies.

We suffer mightily from Himalayan Balsam at our allotments but I must admit that because they are so easy to pull up, I have come to quite like them. If you pull them up before they flower, they are fabulous to compost because they are quite juicy and bulky and break down quickly. I see them as free future compost now!

Didn't think about composting it!

At least now I don't have to bring bags of it home...
