Planning for next year and I need some advice please

My larger veggie growing area is still under construction and will be ready for next season so I have been thinking about various varieties that would be suitable for my still micro space.

I would like some ideas so I can pick up some of next years seeds when the seed sales start in a few weeks time so....

Cabbage -
I have tried Minicole, Pixie and Greyhound in the past and really only like the taste of Greyhound so what varieties are recommended for close spacing as there are only 2 of us to feed?

A winter cropping suggestion would be nice as well.

Parsnip -
can anyone recommend a short rooted variety as many of mine at least the ones that survived) had bent roots at the bottom.

Is there any kale smaller than Dwarf Green?

Are there any really low growing DFB's as the wind here is horrible and regularly flattens everything?

Tomatoes -
I started looking for outdoor bush varieties as I am fed up of losing the light in my kitchen because of the triffids growing in the porch but gave up because of the enormous variety of seeds available. Can anyone recommend both a medium size and small tom that can cope in a bucket outside that does not taste either of cardboard or vinegar.

My suggestion for your tomato would be Tumbler, note not Tumbler Tom. Great in either hanging basket or flower bucket.

I find that dwarf curly kale does well in my potato containers after harvest.

Spring cabbage April is one I enjoy and is doesn't seem to mind being short of space. I plant those very close together and then harvest every other one as spring greens leaving space for the rest to mature.

Parsnip - I grew half long Guernsey and they were broad yet blunt.
Cabbage - golden acre seems to do fine at 4 per row of 1.5m but is a bit bland, and Savoy Vertus did really well and tasted like a proper winter cabbage

I grow Cabbage Hispi close together - 4 to a 2ft long trough. They form nice solid pointed heads, but they are a summer cabbage.
Tomato - I grow Totem in pots - its a bush tomato that grows medium sized fruit (I find most bush tomatoes are cherry sized). Taste isn't fabulous, but they are fairly hardy as tomatoes go, and fruit early so I find them useful.



The 4 tomatoes in front of the large mesh cage are 2 Totem at the back (with some marble sized fruit at the moment) and 2 garden pearl at the front. This is the first time I have grown garden pearl so I can't comment on how they do or taste, but they are clearly later than Totem, sown on the same day. The plant to the left of these is Balconi red, which is a very small bush variety and has been grown on a windowsill and nearly finished fruiting. I moved it outside because it was getting burnt through the glass in the hot weather, which is why the leaves don't look great. This has what I would describe as large cherry tomatoes which have a nice flavour (the yellow variety behind the red one doesn't taste as nice). They seem to cope well outside.

I treat cabbage as "cut and come again" and harvest the large outside leaves as needed leaving the remainder of the plant to grow on. I find this keeps each plant more or less contained within a 30cm square.

Pic below of the 2 cabbages I'm harvesting now of unknown variety - I harvested a few leaves over the weekend and already some outer leaves are ready to pick. There are 2 savoy seedlings growing for later on - never tried growing savoy before so hope it is possible to harvest this sort in the same way.
