Any red outdoor tomatoes yet?

This North South difference seems a little wierd to me because i am in sunny Devon and close to the gulf stream yet my toms are still green, apart from a few sungold.
My Shirley plants have gone balistic in size and quantity, so much so I have had to tie up every truss to stop the weight ripping them off the plant. i often have to do this with a few trusses but not all of them.

We have had a few days of moderate sun, this morning on a cold, overcast, drizzly day I went out and .............. 6 of the Tumbler have turned and will be ready for picking tomorrow.

I've got sweetmillions and tigerellas from both greenhouse and outdoor plants ripe, picked and eaten!

I did photograph them with husbands phone but cannot for the life of me transfer them to here or to my laptop. I refuse to allow technology to ruin this long awaited moment...so you'll just have to take my word for it!

How do you tell if green zebras are ripe? Will they just feel squishy?

I thought they were a bit late. Reading this thread confirms it. I've had about half a dozen ripen so far. A few more are slowly turning but the majority are still green and rock hard. Plenty of them though

My tomato store - mainly Shirley (grown indoors) and Sungold.

20 August 2015:



My tomato store - Balconi yellow, Balconi red and Sungold, plus 2 small Sweet Aperitif. If you bear in mind that most of the Sungold are smaller than last year, you can see just how tiny the Sweet Aperitif are, and these are the big ones at the top ends of the trusses! All of these tomatoes are from outside. I am growing the same number of Sungold plants (5).
