  • bulbous uneven cucumbers

Some of my Tasty King cucumbers in the GH are normal, long, straightish but a few others are skinny at plant end and bulbous at other. Any of the grapes have a clue as to why?

Believe it's due to poor pollination.....

Also remember to keep well watered
Never test the depth of the water with both feet

Or have they got pollinated and the seeds are developing in the bulbous bit.

I had a sneaking suspicion that might be the case, but thanks for the confirmation. Water not a problem, they drink copiously every day. Maybe I should be tickling the flowers with a paint brush. Otherwise they are an excellent variety

Sometimes if they get pollinated they become bitter. If so take off all the male flowers.

Damned if I do, damned if I don't. To pollenate, or not to polenate, that is the question. ?.....

As far as I know T K is an F1 Asian variety that's should be allowed to pollinate though if I were I would investigate that further.

Harvest one of the bulbous plants if it is bitter then forget the above, if it is sweet but full of seed harvest at an early stage.

Had a quick goggle, the seed packet says to leave male flowers on with this variety....

Just for info, I have eaten a bulbous cuc and they taste excellent all the way through, fat bits and thin bits, so no problem apart from cosmetic, wouldn't win any prizes on the show bench.

Unless there is a category for the cucumber most resembling a light bulb.
