Back at allo0tment after 4 days away but of 60 odd tomatos, indoor and out, only abundant green fruit. Do they lose flavour if they ripen too slowly?

The only ripe tomatoes here, are from a pot right next to the house, sweet million & one gardeners delight & 3 sweet million in the blow-away tent. So in slightly warmer positions. All the plants in the ground & away from the house still have green tomatoes & top trusses of flowers. In the photo the big tomatoes are gardeners delight & smaller tomatoes are sweet million picked this week.Attached FilesLocation : Essex

I've lost over 50% of my Ferlines to BER, but I've just got some that are ripe enough to pull. I had one sliced onto a cheese sarnie for tea last night and it was excellent. I gave my new neighbour one to try. His face lit up. He said it didn't even taste like a tomato. I said that it did, its the ones he buys from the shops that don't.

I grew Ferline one year but thought they were quite tasteless mind you, what I think of as a good tomato taste does differ from a lot of people on here, I avoid the very sweet ones which a lot of people like (Sungold being an excellent example) and go for more traditional acidic tasting fruits.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Do my eyes deceive me ...

Yes, ONE of my Gardeners Delight has a hint, just a hint of the start of a teeny weeny turn of - dare I say it, pink!!!
(Or is it just me wearing my rose tinted glasses?)~~~ Gardening is medicine that does not need
a prescription ... And with no limit on dosage.

I hate to sound smug..........well actually only a bit, but that's only because you all get it so right when I'm getting it wrong, but we have a GLUT of tomatoes. I've made pasta sauce and soup already because we can't keep up. Chilli dipping sauce next week. First toms picked 10th July - Maskotka in baskets (greenhouse), now picking Alicante, super roma, sweet baby, cherry cascade (useless.so tiny),, san marzano and beefmaster (huge, had one stuffed for supper - between us).

The size varies but they are what I would call Ferline a medium to large tomato.
