  • Strawberry Bugs

Just checked my Strawbs today and there were loads of these little things hanging about on the un-ripe fruits. Couldn't see any damage and I don't know whether they're a potential pest. About 4mm long, with a weevil-esque body shape, but no snout, so I don't think they are, and they're quite colourful. Pictures aren't the best quality but hopefully they're enough.

    Any ideas?

Possibly shield bugs, don't think they damage crops. Probably sheltering from the incessant rain!

Correct. Armed with that I've searched around and yes, Shield is what they are. Feed on sap but not especially harmful. Thanks very much.
