Scotch Bonnet and Amazon, not a happy bunny :(

Having never grown Scotch Bonnets before i ordered some seed back in January from Amazon.
They arrived via China, no postage so just a pound for cash, happy days..................

Or not. After nagging doubts i tried one of them yesterday, big ( still green ) pods , fresh, crunchy, delightfull, for a bell pepper, absolutely gutted .

Also had Satans Kiss in the same order and although i have chillis on them they are certainly not satans kiss, lesson learned.

I've been buying seed (lots of packets each time) from these retailers for 8 years or more. Not had a dodgy or mislabelled batch yet.
Slightly more expensive perhaps than what you might find on amazon, but the difference is negligible considering the peace of mind you get as well. And you usually get freebies thrown in most orders over a certain amount anyway.

Can't give a 100% gurantee that they'll grow as expected (if they're self saved) but its 100% more likely than buying from China.

For the Scotch Bonnet I would have said you could have picked 2 at your local Sainsburys and grown the seeds in them, and put the actual chilli into something to eat.

The other aspect is do the Chinese refer to the same thing as a Scotch Bonnet?
I recall one group of Chinese visitors and myself finding that for one object in the sky we had completely different names but their term very closely resembled something completely different although well known. Total chaos for about 5 minutes.

Could they be referring to what we call the Bishops Hat chilli for instance?

I come across numerous Chinese->English manuals and instructions (nothing major) and the one aspect is we call things differently. Makes interesting reading at times.
