    1500 sorrel plants????

I have 5 and that's more than plenty for the 2 of us.
Are you intending to sell the spare plants or something?

Yes so in Spring but I wouldn't bother with many. You can make soup and the young leaves are nice in a salad but that's it for me. I had four plants and I can't even dig them out...they keep coming back

I make a cream and sorrel sauce to go with fish, and put it in a salmon quiche to give it a lemony zing.

Here are other recipes, but don't eat too much of it as it is very high in salicylic acid.

my onions from seed is taking forever with my great skills for caring .. so bought 500gm of onion sets from allotment shop for £1.75 (around 130 onion sets)

total spending so far £6.74 from £20 of my maximum budget.

am able to stay away from many tempting seed catalogues as I might exceed my spending challenge limit.

does B&Q and Homebase ever put seed packets on sale??? hope they won't

Going to ask this the other way - how do you manage to spend £20+ on seeds ?
Agreed my patch is not big but if I grew single varieties of veg then I would easily manage less the. £5. Equally my source suits this purchase and growing approach.

More often from seeds this year I will have remainder for next and will decide to use them if feasible and if they grew OK this year.

I think as a newbie its very easy to get carried away and keep buying more and more seeds - plus then you lose track and buy them all over again! I have bought loads this year than on further research I dont have the space or the greenhouse to grow - but again as a newbie I want to try everything! Plus its easy to get sucked into the mainstream garden websites where seeds are considerably more expensive.

I now have a spreadsheet which keeps track of what varieties I have and what I still want (nothing now for next year) - it stops me buying multiples.

All went to a good home in the VSP though so nothing wasted

So I might have just gone out and bought 30 packets of seed.... @ 19p each

Most of the usual suspects, some sweet peppers, cayenne peppers, money maker toms, couple of packs of herbs and salad seeds (ie differenet lettuce and salad onions) and a couple of types of carrot.

I'v not grown carrot before so looking forward to giving that a try.

Came in at £5.70 so looking good to spend less than £20 but will see that happens when I get round to buying some tatties and onions.
