Unique or not?

I am growing green courgettes and yellow courgettes. I also have a courgette plant that is a half and half ie the first half of the courgette is yellow and the second half is green, bi-colour courgette.

I find this quite interesting and wondered if it was worth keeping some seed from it,or is this a common occurrence?

Just had a look at zephyr. Its an F1 hybrid so if somehow I've managed to get one of these plants by mistake, it won't come true from seed.

Still might try it as it looks slightly different tho!

Does it look the same? Perhaps some wrong seed in the pack? If you've got the space a little experiment is always worth a shot

They don't appear to have a defined line where they change colour and the green is darker. Some have more yellow and some have more green.

I have grown one zephyr plant this year. intial pickings had a bit of green thing but many of the late pickings is not showing much of it. may be it can vary from seed to seed ?

have 5 more seeds in the pack. will sow 2 seeds next year and try saving seed from one plant . it can grow and fruit like crazy. seems to feed and care a bit which I haven't done

Here you go. I've put one each of the two varieties i grow in front of the hybrid plant.

I grow the green and yellow to give a bit of colour to my frittatas, but it looks like i only need grow one of these plants now!

Just to jump in with a short comment, if you plan to harvest seed from a C. pepo (courgettes and squashes) be sure to hand pollinate as they will easily cross with any decorative gourds an allotment neighbour might grow, and next year your harvest will be bitter and inedible. (Also, usually if you leave one fruit on the plant for seeds it will stop producing female flowers soon afterwards - mission accomplished, so to speak...)

Definitely not Zephyr, they're smooth and round, your have ridges.

Courgette "Snadger", look forward to it in the seed catalogues
