  • Propagating quince from cuttings

    Anyone done it successfully?

    Any tips to pass on?

RHS advice says Vranja quince doesn't need to be grafted and will take from semi-ripe cuttings. I've just come back from the plot with a small armful of 'em and will be settling down to prepping them after dinner.

I have done it with quince rootstock suckers. Nothing very fancy - clear the leaves from the bottom leaving about 5 leaves on top and stick in a pot of compost, water, leave to the elements and forget about them. I can't remember if I pinched the tops out or not (diverting energy and some such gubbons)

      Lovely. thanks.

Will do that and fling them to the back of the greenhouse. I have visions of many quince trees that I can stealth-plant around the place. So probably it'll be like the fig experience and only one will take.
