Parsnip Canker?

It could be canker or it could be carrot fly damage. Parsnips are related to carrots and can be attacked by the flies. Canker often gets in after the flies have damaged the roots.A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP. - Leonard Nimoy

i've had the same for the past couple of years. As you say, no problem once peeled but a shame to see. I will use some enviromesh around my carrots and parsnips next year as the little suckers (flys) are proving to be a real pain!

There are a couple of varieties here Scoot that are supposed to be resistant to canker:

Yeah i actually looked at that exact page Bigmally. I ended up going for these on mr fothergills as i already have half a dozen other seeds in my basket on there ready for ordering after xmas so thought I'd just add the parsnip seed to my basket as well, it's in with the delivery then rather than getting it else where and having to pay another delivery charge...
