I grew celeriac last year. Started it in modules in the greenhouse then planted it out later. I looked after them well and kept them watered as they need a lot of water to swell the roots.
My crop were rubbish. I wouldn't bother growing them again but good luck and let us know how you get on.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I grow them every year, starting them off in modules in my polytunnel and transplanting them outdoors. I find germination is the hardest part of the process and is usually plain sailing after that. I sow a second crop later in the year, same process but planted in the polytunnel for late winter/early spring crop. These are fussier and take more care or will bolt early. They seem to like my acidic black peaty soil but still need plenty of organic material and moisture and don't like a check to growth or will bolt. My outdoor 2014 crop ( I have only a late indoor crop this year as I was out of action for a long spell)Attached Files
