Hi New greenhouse about to be built ...but should I put the door on the north or south side

Depends on the lie of your land and where the prevailing wind comes from. It's not an exact science, just place it where it best fits your garden

A door on the north or south gives an equal-ish amount of sun to both sides though

I hear winter greenhouses are best with the door east or west for the very reason you quote though. But I must admit I am yet to find anyone who is flush enough to have a dedicated winter greenhouse.

My door is on the south side. Why? because it's against my south facing fence. If it was in the middle of the garden I'd almost certainly put the door on the north though, in order to maximise the planting sides exposed to light.

Only thing I'd say worth considering us if you have shelter on either side or an area that gets the wind worse than the other..
