Ok i could not help my self, i had a little lookse under the soil, THEY ARE GROWING YAY.

Me nuts are up.....



The nuts were sown at work and put into a heated greenhouse with grow lights, the ones I sowed at home a week earlier have now been placed into a heated Propagator to chivvy them up a bit.

I only did a couple of testers as i could find any in their shells. So will be doing a full tray in the next week or so.

I sunk 9 nuts into individual pots this afternoon,plus a label and date of planting,you think you will remember,only to forget.they on a tray under a cloch,inside the grow barn,was 60 in there this after with the door open,will do some more in a week or 2,or after the cold winter,if it does come.

Forgot to say that I've sown 16 nuts, 4 to each pot.
Now in a heated propagator

grew peanuts last year from redskin "bird" peanuts, unroasted and deshelled,they like warmth to germinate so I placed a handful in a plastoic bag of MPC and put in the airing cupboard at the end of February.after germination ,which took about 5 days they were pricked out into 5 inch pots and went out about mid april onto the lottie,12 plants in all.BE AWARE the slugs love them.
The plants that survived the slug Armageddon (4) grew well,with pretty clover like leaves and reached about 10-12 ins high developing attractive yellow flowers which ,after petal drop pushed down into the soil.I harvested in September and got about 12 nut shells per plant.I think the yield could have been better with more care but all in all a fun experiment.I will try again this year but think a 12 inch pot is probably the way to go if only because I could bring it in to extend the season if the summer is as disappointing weather wise as last year

I've put in 6 so far in a heated propagator, 3 to a pot, and will stick some more in in February when I have sorted the rest of the chillies.

If they only get to a foot high, would they work as a kind of ground cover in the greenhouse do you think? I'd be interplanting them with tomatoes and peppers.

That's what I'm doing Sparrow, putting them in any gap I can find in the Greenhouse. I'll lift them last thing.
