Please DON'T keep them to yourself. It's so entertaining reading through all your amazing and inventive ideas

If anyone could grow monkey nuts you'd think a gorilla could

Was BM not going to try growing tomatoes from a 'cup-a-soup' or something like that this year ?
.......because you're thinking of putting the kettle on and making a pot of tea perhaps, you old weirdo. (Veggie Chicken - 25/01/18)

                I did 3 experiments:

                1. Sliced Tomato - I got about 6 seedlings.
                2. Frozen Tomato - Zilch.
                3. Tinned Tomato - Also Zilch.

                • Just bumping this thread as it seems to have died a death!

Are anyone's monkey Nuts still growing?

Now the frosts are over I was thinking about putting mine outside soon. Or would they be better in a greenhouse/polytunnel bed?

Mine are still alive too Snadge. But they were doing very little growing...I potted them on into bigger pots last week and they are hardened off and sitting in a sun trap area outdoors now...

I have a funny feeling you might be best going for an inside bed given the choice of that and unpredictable weather...

                        • I have six, they are about 18 inches high with little orange flowers. My understanding is that the flower stalks drop down and bury into the soil, giving me underground monkey nuts. I thought about transplanting them into a couple of window sill troughs in the greenhouse. This way they will have compost to burrow into?
