I'm putting 4 cases to a pot so 8 nuts.................I believe they then have to be separated prior to transplanting but need to confirm.

I tried growing them a few years ago. Had loads of green leaves etc but not a single nut. Was so disappointed. Grew them in the green house

Did the pollinated flower stalks bend down & bury themselves in the soil Bal?

I don't remember a single flower. That might explain the lack of nuts. The seeds were planted into great big pots and not disturbed at all. I did it with my son who was a little boy at the time, he was so disappointed. I would love to have a go again if I can find room in the green house, or can they be planted outside?

I think they need a long warm period so if we have a nice summer they may be ok but watch out for the mice & squirrels...............I'll be reviving the thread in January if it dies a death.

I don't see why not NVG, I'm just gonna put them on a windowsill until after last frost, then they can go in't greenhouse.

Got some monkey nuts today in Morries so I'm in! Unfortunately though I will have to grow them outside as Santa won't be bringing me a greenhouse. Fingers crossed for a fabulous summer, I think we deserve one.

                          Roasted ! !

Bought a bag of Monkey Nuts today, realised when I got home that they are apparently "Roasted Peanut in shell" doh ! I assumed all monkey nuts were raw . . .

The garden birds can have these, I'll try again tomorrow

Looks like the bulk of Supermarket nuts are roasted, best bet is to buy or save some that are sold for the birds. Don't give birds roasted peanuts, they have absorbed brine.

I've just bought some in M0rries. 200g Monkey nuts in shell (75p) and 200g of Redskin peanuts out of shell (75p). Had to be careful though as the shell ones were next to an identical bag with roasted ones.
