                I've found some .
So the plan is, keep a handful in my seed tin till they are needed. Give the rest to the garden birds. Then when the time comes, sow in pots in tunnel, then transplant into tractor tyre.
                Very exciting

Has anyone ever grown these ?

I'm curious with it being a 'pea' - whether we have to act against the usual pests and put up net protection, etc. ?

Once the plant flowers, the flower stalks then go down into the soil, the peanuts then grow under the soil so no nets should be needed.

                      Cheers BM

I was just wondering if the pigeons will devour the plants before they get to that stage - like they do with my peas.

If it puts your mind at rest, I can see no problem with some protection.

i sowed some in a heated green house the other week to see if they would germinate

went up today to check and they have been eaten by a mouse

i have set a trap to deal with it as i dont want it eating all my stuff that i grow

had one last year that dug all my peas up and ate them

When I was a kid, somewhere south of London more than a little while ago, I planted a couple of raw peanuts in pots to see what would happen. They germinated and grew into nice plants which I kept in a window that projected from our garden shed. It was like a little greenhouse and I kept some cacti there too. I don't remember getting any peanuts from the plants. Maybe the pots were too small, or the cold weather came too soon.

But I've been thinking for quite a while about trying it again because we have hotter summers here in Slovakia, so they might actually do OK outdoors. The problem is that it's hard to get raw peanuts here. All the ones I've seen for people to eat are roasted, even the ones in their shells. I brought back a few raw ones of different colours and sizes from a trip to England last year, but not in their shells. I wonder does it really make a difference. Didn't try planting them yet.

But then when I was rummaging in my seed stash recently, TA DA!! I found a packet of official seed peanuts that I forgot about buying in a garden centre here. From a Czech company I think, or maybe a German one. So I'm hoping they're not too old and I can join you all in this challenge.

I am still struggling to find some, must go to the nut stall at the market. I want to play meh.
I can buy the roasted ones with flavourings on them but somehow i do not think they will work.
I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them
