Mine are between 3 and 4' tall but would almost certainly be shorter in pots

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Regretting not trying to grow brussels this year now, after seeing the success everyone else on the plots are having. So next year it's happening, can someone recommend a particular variety, not dwarf. Cheers

I might give some of them a go, 300 seeds, I'll not use all them lol. I failed with my Sprouts this year. It was my first attempt.

Scoot, I fail at a lot of things which only makes the stuff I do manage to grow all the better.

I think I am going off my sprout idea as growing space is a real issue and I'm not sure having 2 plants in big tubs is worth it.

Good luck on your sprout growing next year.

I'll definitely be giving them a go in the Spring. Those smaller dwarf ones will suit me perfectly as i havn;t got a great deal of space. I'll only be growing 3 or 4 plants. I'll probably order them a bit nearer the time. Hopefully i have a bit better luck this time than i did last year.

I grew some last year, were doing really well and then got infested with some kind of aphid, I will try again next year but will spray at the first sign of problems.

The variety was Brussels Sprout Maximus F1

I suppose sprouts are difficult to defend because they are so big - it's either a lot of bug mesh or gallons of spray.

Either way Good Luck to all sprout growers.

I had a look at that Jack after I spotted some on sale in a supermarket at a daft price - did think about it but if you have a go at it please let me know.

I sowed some but can't remember whether they're amongst the ones I planted out
Having seen them on sale, they look too much like a blown sprout to make me want to grow them again. In fact, I'm going to call all the blown ones "flower sprouts" so that it sounds intentional!

I grow sprouts every year. You need to firm the ground really well.. Like stamp up and down on it when it is moist.. And stamp a lot more. Blown sprouts are worthless.
