I've certainly seen a lot of unseasonal flowering this year, and some of my spring bulbs are coming up already, when they don't normally pop up until maybe February. A cherry tree a street away is covered in blossom, that doesn't normally flower til spring, and the allotment orchard had a bunch of apple trees in flower a few weeks back.
Guess it's the mild Autumn.

My oca plants were still green and healthy up until about a week ago. They survived the first mild frost that killed off my beans and squash. But then we got several cold days and frosty nights in a row, so they are probably dead now. Today is warmer but it's raining so I didn't go out to look. I've read that they should be left for a few weeks after frost kills them because the tubers underground will swell up some more. Does anyone know from experience if that's right?

One of my south facing beds has some spuds in it which I hadn't dug up. There is a bit of growth from a few of the potatoes, but one of them is growing a plant that is now approaching 20cm in height with some fairly healthy looking foliage.
Also I found a few runner beans on the ground that had left their pods and they have started growing their starter leaves!
I know light also plays a part but if the mild weather continues at this rate maybe I'll be able to start harvesting some of these crops next year when sowing time usually is.Last edited by solanaceae; 11-12-2015, 04:20 PM.
