  • Once again I've only got a tiny % done of everything I need to do! Tomato maintenance seems to take up all my time! I have got all but one of my cucumbers planted out now though and they're looking really good if we ever get some decent weather for them to grow!

      • Nipped down the plot for an hour earlier before my youngest son bed time to remove some leaves from my toms in the poly tunnel that I was concerned about. Hoping it isn't blight and just natural leaf loss from moving them around etc.

This is my first year and I have learned a lot that I will be putting in to practice for next year's plants. Namely to restrict the number of toms in there haha. Will be looking at trying strawberries in pots next year with some good plants from dt browns, this year's freebies only produced a small amount.

Removed some more dreaded mares tail from the raised beds, I know most hate it, but I do find it somewhat therapeutic lol.

Watered the lettuce seedlings that I planted last weekend, see, to be coming on a treat.

        • There was a 6 foot by 2 foot oak framed mirror lying in one of the sheds on my new plot. I didn't know what to do with it and didn't fancy seven years bad luck by smashing it, so tonight I screwed it to the back wall of my summerhouse.
Checked on my broody hen who's eggs were due to hatch yestyerday. I spotted a small foot sticking out from her wing. Went back later and spotted a yellow head sticking out from the other wing.
No doubt she will let me see her brood when she's ready!

          • Managed to finish the Strawberry Gutters, now planted up with 34 plants all ready for next season. Picked a mixed punnet of Strawbs & Rasps.

            • Yesterday a friend came over & helped me fix my little shed roof, all boarded & felted so I've put a pot of peas & carrots up there so the peas can drape over the side of the shed & hopefully out the way of slugs, looks a bit odd with a huge pot up there,it could probably do with a few more pots up there,I'l see what I can do.

                  • Had a tidy of toms in GH, had a chat with everyone
Found 3 more runner plants so potted them up with canes
Gave chives a short back n sides
                    Harvested some stuff
                    Slug and snail inspection
Took ages unwinding canary creeper plants and got them planted out
Planted out some echium vulgare, cornflower blue, verbena bonariensis , a dahlia waterlily and a rudbeckia which I've taken 5 cuttings from, also potted up a nemesia and an osteopurnum (red) , some million bells , oh and a leucanthemum banana cream

Wanted to do some seeds but ran out of time, dog was rounding me up for her walk

                      • Lifted my broody hen (donned leather gloves first) and lo and behold she has a black and a white chick under her wing. It appears the other five eggs under her are all duds!

I'll give her a couple of days before removing the remaining eggs but she seems preoccupied with the two chicks and isn't sitting on them. Maybe she knows they are dud?

Dug up what i think is a pineapple mint (variagated) and put it in a pot to grow on.
