Yesterday, pulled up all the remaining broad bean plants, they were beginning to get rust anyway, then spent about an hour removing beans and popping in freezer.
Dug up the remaining Earlies, so many have had to be thrown due to blight.
Not much done so far today, made up a 3lt spray of Asprin & gave the Toms & Tatties a covering. Also made up a 5lt spray of Epsom Salts so gave all the Curcurbits a good soak.

The other day I had a brown blight marking on one of my tomato stems so I got rid of the plant to stop it spreading to the next plant. The day after I noticed it had spread to the plant next to it,a little marking on the stem so I uprooted & binned that plant too, took off the few tomatoes, they're in the kitchen ripening. The day after that no other plants have blight signs, gave them a bit of a trim,I had areas of clumps of leaves so had to thin it out a bit so they can dry quicker after it rains. I've taken off all leaves lower than the lowest truss of tomatoes now. I hope that's the end of blight, going to have to check everyday. My dahlias are flowering pink & yellow!
Greenhouse: watered and fed tomatoes and chillies. Allotment weeding, earthing up potatoes and harvesting a small amount too. Sowed some pak choi and also some phacelia for green manure.
Not a lot as I had my daughters first sports day. She was in 4 races and didn't make it across the finish line once but she enjoyed it so that is fine with me
Had a bit of a tidy up. Cleaned down shed and shuttered the windows (seems wrong in July to shut out the light). Lifted and hung 140 shallots
Took up all my autumn sown onion sets both red and yellow.
Took up the last of my garlic.
Picked a dish of strawberries, some lettuce, scallions and garlic chives.
Deadheaded the sweetpeas did the ususl weeding.
Its hard to get much done with the very heavy showers, plus I spent part of the day having my hair done.
Slowly but surely my hair colour is going from light brown to blonde but I quite like it.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.
Hand weeded the leek bed and watered stuff in greenhouse on old plot. On the new plot I watered greenhouse stuff then I planted out my sweetcorn and put some extra ties on my chrysanthemum plants.
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)
Halved the nunber of Tomato plants I optimistically was growing in my poly, got rid of the weaker plants to allow better air flow and space around the remaining ones. A few were planted outside to see how they fare.
Everything seems to have grown quite a bit over the weekend, everything from cucamelons, aubergine plant, chillies, sweet peppers to Tom's have all got flowers on. One of the tom plants has a nice bunch of fruit that just needs some sun to ripen.
Trimmed.some of the main shoots on my pumpkin plants, really pleased to see quite a few of the right sex flowers with the fruits starting below them, quite keen to see how many I manage to grow to carving size for the kiddies.
Harvested our first carrots from our first sewing on the plot around April time. Need to remember to buy some casserole steak and try the carrots for tea tomorrow
I lifted my red onions & elephant garlic out the raised bed today & in their place planted 5 cauliflower 'Autumn Giant' & a nasturtium. I found a few pots to pretty up the shed roof, the huge pot has carrots & peas-they're just poking out an inch at the moment, with nasturtium, marigold & petunias purple pirouette & pink cascade. Brussels sprouts are growing nicely & the first dahlia flower that's opened being enjoyed by a fly.
