  • A hammer shaft? That's easy to shove through your letter box

Before the ash tree was felled, I dug up 7 mini fruit trees as they were right in the line of felling. Today I replanted them into their own mini orchard bed.
Three cherries, 2 apples, a pear and a plum. The trees are only a couple of feet high so I should be able to pick the fruit without a ladder
Just standing back, waiting for the rude comments

          • Just potted on the tomato plant that i have overwintered. Put it into a 5 litre pot. I planted it deeper but it's still unable to stand up straight on it's own, so I've had to put a little stake in with it. I might let a side shoot (which are just starting to grow) grow on and then just cut the top off the plant and see if that helps.

              • Looks good Jonny, if that was me i would somehow found space for double even thought it would be detrimental.

I finally potted up 2 large pots with 4 early potatoes in each, very very chitted, got a surprise GYO magazine, thought it had run out, but not complaining so curdled up with a couple of cuppas reading through.

My new ladies have also discovered tomatoes and they are loving them if only they could understand how much better they will be in the summer

                • Emptied pallet box of well rotted manure into bags, and began filling it with fresh stuff. Heavy days work, really feeling it now, but well chuffed when finished and sitting in the sun with a cuppa this afternoon.

                      This tickled me

There's nothing better than seeing the first shoots of life (and I'm including the birth of my 3 kids in that statement).
.......because you're thinking of putting the kettle on and making a pot of tea perhaps, you old weirdo. (Veggie Chicken - 25/01/18)

                        • Feel absolute exhausted tonight, today we fixed a lot of the damage to the chicken area, their dinning area needed fixing back in place, the door need re screwing, some of the fence needed re pining, added a new house which is a old old kennel Mr L, made out of scrap and we added perches, screwed in one perch into the other house as they keep knocking it out........found another hidden nest with 18 eggs in there, thought it was funny i had not had anything for a while again!!! introduced the new ladies to the old and getting on wonderfully. Scrubbed them out really well.

Finally planted out the 6 new olive trees, wow that was hard work....had to carry about a 100 buckets of water for them, makes me feel like it was not worth it

Killed a million and four aphids

Stupid water pump would not work so had to make my way through hundreds of spider webs (would not bother me but they bite) pressing the restart button getting angry as it wouldn't work and i was half way through watering, so i gave up stomped inside and then realised the switch had tripped to the plugs whoops check that first mrs!!!!

Striped the bed and boiled washed and then forgot to hang it out so now in front of the fire trying to get it dry in time before bed.

Ready for bed but must finished cooking dinner first and maybe eat some of it

                              • Potted up some bearded irises I got from Aldi. These are the type that like to sit on the surface and get baked by the sun I think. I planted four(Only supposed to be three in packet) each in a 7" pot and maybe a bit too deep. We'll see.
Watered stuff in greenhouse. I'm surprised how quickly stuff is drying out even though we have had very little sunshine.
