    • Removed all the tomato plants, will pick off the ripe ones tomorrow and save seed and freeze the rest.
Had a light shower off and on all day, which is more than we've had for several months.
      Garlic to go in tomorrow.

        • Yesterday I planted out some of my 2" peas into a large pot & placed carrot seeds around them. This pot has a copper tape strip around it,slugs & snails don't climb in. I went down the sideway of my house earlier & my neighbours ivy, that's hanging over my side,is thickly covered in aphids,I hope they're far enough away to not come near my stuff! They're waiting there for my beans aren't they! I'l triple up on the nasturtiums this year by the look of the mass amount! Everything has probably overwintered well?

              • A bit of grass cutting for me too, plus more horsetail weeding and tying in floppy broad beans to supports. Also belatedly netted some mustard red giant.

                • My square-foot beds are starting to take shape now! I was worried about the broad beans I sowed last month, but they've finally started to poke up through the soil. Phew. I planted out some hardened-off kale, pak choy, and choy sum (had to fight off the hens, who were very interested in what I was doing!) Then I pricked out some herb seedlings: spearmint, chamomile and lemon basil. The lemon basil is looking decidedly wilty and sad. Boo.

                  • I cleaned the garden furniture yesterday with the pressure washer, then coated it in protective oil, so all pots were shoved out the way. Spent the day today organising the pots, weeding and mulching them, reorganised the greenhouse to give me more shelving space for seeds, then sowed more tomatoes, cuces and basil as none have come up from previous sowings. Relaxing with a very alcoholic drink now, before I start dinner!

                    • Had to work today!

After work I went to allotment with a big pile of cardboard i'd liberated from a skip at work and dropped it off at my new plot. I shall be growing Pumpkins and Butternut Squash through it once its weighted down with hoss muck.

Dug up acvouple of white foxgloves from old plot and transplanted them to new plot in a shady spot.
Dug over the bed where the parsnips were, fertilised with a high nitrogen slow release fertiliser and planted some of my leeks that I grew from a show leek seed head. I planted the leeek grass last October and the leeks are as big as my fingers and ready to plant out. I would normally eat leeks this size but they are show leeks so we will see if they put on much growth.
I only managed to plant up part of the bed and have another slightly smaller strain of leeks that I have developed over the years for the rest of the bed. The bed is 4 foot wide and 12 foot long.
Cut a spring cabbage from the greenhouse for the dinner along with a dozen eggs for the house! Nice sunny day today.....shame i had to work!

                      • Well im back off holiday & everything has survived remarkably well! The garden looks lush, all new spring growth, and I didnt miss the azalea flowering, which im pleased about.
Popped to the allotment, some of the spuds are through, so they will need earthing up soon. Despite my best efforts, the weeds have had a field day & the ground is rock hard. Some more seedlings are through in the raised beds (peas and spring onions). One lot of strawberries are nothing but brown stumps, so im going to pull those out. The same thing has happened to a couple of the (expensive) mara de bois ones I have a home, out of the five bought, only three remain.
Going to go over there early tomorrow, make the most of the day off.

                        • Topped up a bed with greenwaste compost. Planted 16 broad bean plants plus 2 nasturtiums, a cornflower and a calendula.

Planted some cornflower, calendula and borage in another part of the garden.

Planted some supermarket potatoes, don't know what they all were.

Pricked out celery seedlings into modules.

                          • Busy weekend at work as covering for someone on holiday. Managed couple of hours on allotment today (5.30pm - 7.30pm) and potted tomatoes into larger pots. Ditto melon. Gave everything else a jolly good watering because it's been an absolute scorcher today

Finally walked around plot pulling up odd weed daring to poke it's head up and making a list of jobs to do Monday and Tuesday when I'm off Trust me....it's a LONG list! But the plot should look much better once it's done.

                            • Gave everyone a good soaking in GH.
Cut down some of the overgrowth in the front 'garden' and shredded it all.
Potted on sweet peppers, sowed lettuce in a large trough and some more cuce seeds.
It's looking amazing in GH at the moment, everything is springing into life
A beautiful, warm day. Just enjoying a chilled glass of (or two..?!?!) Chardonnay ...

                              • Uncovered my Last 3 beds with the sunny windy weather we are expecting tomorrow they should dry out so I can dig them over after work tomorrow. Planted some beetroot, nasturtiums, marigolds in the veggie garden and nasturtiums, lupins and cornflowers in the front garden. Evicted all plants from the house to the tunnel. Fed my chilli's. Re stocked my sales barrow. Direct sown 3 varieties of Spring onion. Moved a big stone troughs from chicken run to the goose evening accommodation because they looked bl@@dy ridiculous trying to bath in their water bucket.
