    • Done absolutely loads today! Yet more weeding and strimming - will it ever end?
Planted out leeks, onions, carrots and cucumber, sowed my home-made carrot seed tape, and put in more dwarf peas. Also put in some donated strawberry plants and cloched them from the birds. Repotted the raspberries, they should have gone in months ago, but where I want them is infested with bind weed, & I want to get as much of that out as I can.
The OH came over a finally built my wilko greenhouse thingy (like a giant blowaway) only this isnt going anywhere, as hes bolted it all down to a frame. He also put in a slabbed path across the plot for me.

      • Potted up some Toms, finished tidying up the Polytunnel and watered everything in the greenhouse. Then lots of weeding.
Oh I also accidently took on another plot. Probably not a good idea since my shoulder still isn't likely to be fully recovered for another 12 months, but nothing ventured etc.

            • Whinged at a company who hadn't delivered my Tom supports.
            • Looked at my peas and decided to restring the supports - 130ft of string later all done.
            • Sprayed the Pampas and ground elder again.
            • Sowed some Purple Teepee dwarf French beans underneath the runner bean frame.
            • Levelled out a pile of soil in the front garden and dug out a load of cement/concrete blocks.
            • Planted out three blackcurrant bushes that have been in pots a couple of years.
            • Weeded my bamboos and gave them a top dressing of pelleted chicken manure and compost. Have to admit that the front is looking quite good now.
            • Got into a fight with my sweet potato - eventually managed to pin it against the greenhouse wall with some staging.
            • Potted on some toms and chiilies.
            • Re-jigged my greenhouse staging (Wilko large and small mini greenhouses) to give them a water reservoir on each shelf for my capillary matting so I don’t have to walk in after 3 days and find everything dry.
            • Strung up and arm-pitted my toms.
            • Weeded the old plot
            • Had a look at Snadgers Plot

            • You seem to have a right fight on with that pampas. I've noticed one has appeared at mums in rockery , she definitely wouldn't have bought it, must be a seedling that's gone mad.
Shall I did the whole thing out , will it come out or leave remnant ?
What are you spraying elder with ? I don't like chemicals with eat anything Labrador .

              • Get rid of the pampas as soon as you can. Even fire just gives it a pick me up if you let it get too large. They spread themselves by seed but will grow to a big, no BIG clump that's a bgr to get rid of.

Spraying the ground elder with Resolva. It's all along the fence line under the hedge and into my beds so can't dig it out.

                • Elder has got in beds , I dig it out when I can . (Heavy clay so ok when bone dry now), I don't use any weed/pest killers. Just me. Fight on .
I will attack the pampas to its death !

                  • I had a Pampas in the front flower bed - took it out last year as it was taking over. It took half an hour to dig around it and lever the thing out. I managed to drag/lever it on to a tarp and then I wasn't sure what to do next. Neighbour came out with his SAW and sawed it into thirds so that I could lift it and put it in the brown recycling bin. And it took him ages and some choice language to get it done. So, keep at it Containergardener!

                    • I intend giving up one of my plots next year The greenhouse on this plot has raised beds which really should have had the soil exchanged this year but because its a big job I have put it off. What I have done is in each tomato position i have dug a hole and filled it with compost from grow bags. After a good watering I planted six black Russian, six Tigerella and six Ailsa Craig into the raised bed.

Hand weeded my onion sets and then did a bit of tidying up on my new plot.

                            • Despite spending nearly all day in the garden I didn't actually do a lot

I finally direct sowed my runners, I hope that they catch up. Sowed some more lettuce and beetroot.

Decided on a solution for our beans and dwarf peas using a combination of dog run fencing and bamboo canes. The construction is on tomorrow's to do list.

Finally we sat in the sunshine with glasses of cider and listened to test match special lol

Edited to add that I went online to buy raspberry plants to replace our canes that are well and truly dead

                              • Did the garden today. Got two trough things that I normally fill with bedding plants, but this year Ive stuck in all the bits that have been languishing in pots, erysimum cuttings, aldi bare root bits, left over bedding plants etc. Either they'll look fabulous or suck big time, but the garden does look tidier! Also potted on my sweet peppers and aubergines, which should have been done about two weeks ago. Still got bits and pieces to pot on, but Ive run out of compost.
Had to bin an acer that I think was not only infested with scale, but also had an ants nest in it. Chucked a hibiscus that has done nothing, and shows no sign of life. Also chucked away my orchids which Im gutted about. Been fighting scale/mites on them for six months now, and Sadly I lost the battle.... They might have only been from Ikea, but they were lovely!
