I am so far behind in my preparation...I stupidly decided to turn my heavy clay soil this afternoon and almost killed myself in the process! I have no idea how I'm going to get it ready for my spuds to go in!

I have hardly touched my ground yet and there is foots still to dig. When it warms up a little and the soil dries out you can dig faster but until then it's difficult. We have clay here and the other day I could hardly dig it was soo difficult, just need to wait for it to dry out a little first.

Mark is right, there's no point trying to dig cold wet clay soil when it's sticking to the spade and your boots. Stay patient and wait until it's warmer and dryer.

Ok, where do I start.............Set up my new toy & split a few logs, brilliant, after playing for a while, I set about to clearing some chippings that were kindly donated, They are now covering a load of mud. Then had a call to say the toilet cistern was leaking so PTFE tape in hand I checked it out, hopefully fixed the leak. Sadly, had to dispose of a dead chook...............I'm sure there was more but can't remember at the mo, it's an age thing............

I'm very new to this. BUT what I did today was deliver a load of veg peelings, coffee grounds and shredded paper to the compost bins. My grandson has the day off school (no heating) so he added the 'accelerator' by weeing in the bin. He ran up and down the side of the allotment while I cleared a small area. We had hot chocolate in my neighbours shed and came home. I've decided that as the plot is in walking distance that an hour a day at the plot is the aim.

Found a couple of sprouting garlic bulbs (variety Morado) which Neil had obviously forgotten about so took up the allotment and potted them up in compost and put them in the greenhouse. They'll either grow or they won't and I'll get them outside once it warms up in a few weeks. Got 13 bulbs (Or is it cloves? Cannot remember the proper terminology) and took the other two unsprouting bulbs home to chuck in a chilli tomorrow.

A balmy 3c in the greenhouse but it felt GREAT to actually be doing something on the plot in over two months.

Just got in after spending the whole day playing with my new toy, managed to split & stack about a ton of logs and am now ready for a kip..............seesya later if I haven't seized up...............

A few of my chilli's and peppers that I planted a month ago have popped up. Different varieties all in a 2 litre pots but each variety separate and labelled so I know what's what. Fetched some compost into the house today in 2 separate 9cm pots ready to pot the 2 most advanced seedlings on tomorrow once the compost has warmed up.

Can't do anything in the garden as there's still snow on the ground although it is melting.

Pulled some tatties out of storage and popped them on the windowsill to chit. Tempted to order some fancy heritage seed potatoes, but also trying to spend less money I don't have atm.

Had such a busy day, cooking, proper cleaning...although missed the bathroom! (i mean cleaning)
Cleared a lot out of the PT and now it looks so bare, cleared some of the pepper plants & dead aubergine still outside! So many weeds, it seems never ending year round.

chitting some chives and garlic chives as they are dated 2015, easy to move on if they take and soaking a few yellow courgette seeds

I have about 2 wheelbarrows of wood dust from the fire that i stood over and wondered what to do with, but did not come up with an answer........??

feels like i have done so much more but cannot think of it

Put your woodash round fruit trees Lisa. Olive trees would benefit from some potash.
