  • Moved some wood into my little tunnel to dry a bit before I turn it into 4 tiered staging.
Did a bit of pruning. Would of done more but, Buggered my shoulder moving a rock bigger and heavier than I can cope with (apparently)

    • First day in months that my shoulder has been fit enough to get anything serious done on the plot. Arrived to find that the small PT had lost its cover, which is fine, since I'll be moving that frame to another part of the plot to make way for my new 6m x 3m one.
The end post of one of the border fences had broken, so set a new post and re-erected the fence.
Started dismantling the mangled GH frame that I had been using as a fruit cage - then the heavens opened, so gave up for the day.
Felt so good to be finally fit enough to get some proper work done.
What do you get if you divide the circumference of a pumpkin by its diameter?
      Pumpkin pi.

I know that feeling Not had any injuries myself but it just felt so good to be on the plot and doing 'proper' jobs today instead of just a bit of watering, moaning at the wet weather and mentally planning new raised beds.

Blackcurrant 'Ben Nevis' ~ soaked roots in water for an hour *as per instructions* then potted up in large 5lt pot as a temporary home until I sort out the fruit bed.

Planted 8 sprouting Maris Peer spuds from my kitchen cupboard into polytunnel.

Removed a load of pebbles, dry leaves and seeds from one of my shoes that I'd left in the tunnel....think one of the resident Wood Mice on the plot is using it as a storage area (tho' not quite sure what he/she is collecting pebbles for?).

Repotted two London Pride plants which were pot bound and in so doing split them into four plants. Repotted until I sort out permanent planting spot for them.

Potted on 35 Wallflowers which were also a touch pot bound.

Measured two large beds which I will be dividing up into raised beds. Currently both are 21ft x 11.5ft. Both in sunny position all day so possible fruit growing area in one?

This will be a job for Tuesday as it's my day off and forecast is good. Also got a few dozen other rockery flowers to pot on....the greenhouse is starting to fill up already!

            • Went to the Hill this afternoon and:
              • recovered two of the daleks and put them back where they should be. After emptying them last weekend, I can't have put enough 'uncomposted' back in.
              • Added a couple of bags of horse muck to each to stop them being blown away again.
              • collected and tidied away all the canes that a took down last weekend, but had left lying on the beds
              • Emptied the 4th and final dalek, spread the compost about and refilled the dalek in its new position with any uncomposted
              • Armed with thick gloves, secateurs and a fork, I rolled my sleeves up to tackle the 'messy corner' which is now *so* messy that it has a %^*%$£ bramble striving for world domination. This is not a one-hit job, but I have made a difference. Although to tell the truth, it now looks far worse, if anything - it's the bit to the right of the pallet here:

                            • Planted some hyacinths from unsuccessful bowl planting (I put 6 in bowls when it should maybe have only been 3) into the garden. Soil is extremely pliable - I expected it to be soggy. Lots of roots I must say, but stunted flowers. Hopefully will see some flowers next year. I have yet to succeed with indoor hyacinth
