Weeded my strawberry bed. I'm pleased to see that all the rooted runners I planted out in the autumn have come through the winter fine (so far).

Phew! What a day. It started off well, I managed to find a use for 20ft of the guttering I got off Fr33cycl3. Holes drilled in the bottom every 12", ends capped off & attached to the pallet fence. They will eventually be overflowing with trailing bedding plants, well that's the plan anyway..............Like I said the day started off well, just finished the guttering & the lads turned up with 2+ ton of chippings................so spent just over a hour shovelling said chippings in the bladdy rain, I was soaking by the end with sweat & rain.....................so went indoors, lit the wood burner then had a nice soak in the bath...................Oh, heaven!...........well my back thought it was heaven.................anyways, have just come down & fish fingers are in the pan so with butties in hand it will be the perfect end to a busy but productive day.........sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

Just a quick visit this morning (10.45 - 11.20am) as I've got to go to work this afternoon
Potted up a Pulmonaria a friend on a cat forum sent me via the post....and found I could split it into two separate plants.
Put my eight Hollyhock plants I sowed last autumn into bigger pots.
Measured top area of plot as Neil is adamant we can only fit in four beds there but I think we can easily do six and still have room to fit the wheelbarrow along the paths!
Once I get this afternoon's shift out the way I've just got three hours tomorrow morning then off for a whole week *yaaaay*Attached FilesIf I'm not on the Grapevine I can usually be found here!....https://www.thecomfreypatch.co.uk/

Bought red currant and raspberry bushes yesterday from pound stechrz and soaked them in water. Today I planted them into pots with some spent compost and placed them in the greenhouse. I'll figure out what to do with them later.
I also placed the sttugarter onion sets into a seed tray with some spent compost in the greenhouse.
I've removed some seeds from Bird eye chilli peppers I bought from a supermarket and placed them in a pot of spent compost and it's now sitting in a very warm kitchen in front of the window.

Sowed the first of my tomato snd chilli seeds today.
All tucked up in the heated propagator in the onservatory.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Sowed some chilli seeds this morning. Also some aubergine seeds - the freebies from the front of the magazine. "Black Beauty." Never grown aubergine before so should be interesting. And managed to vacuum the car (very organised for a Sunday)!

Had a very productive day.
Completely cleaned out the central bed in the polytunnel and planted some early spuds and some onions at one end.
Planted early carrots in another polytunnel bed
Planted yet another 6 varieties of chillies
Planted 4 varieties of tomatoes
Dug over two of the outside raised beds and planted the remains of the elephant garlic - most of it has been planted since Christmas
Filled another raised bed, that's been sitting idle, with soil and recovered it with black plastic
Planted basil, mint and chives herbs in small terracotta pots on the kitchen window.
Tightened up the home made potting bench so it doesn't lean quite as much.
Got the growlights set up again now that the first batch of chilies are up
Having a big mug of coffee and admiring the rain that's just constant now - at least some of the outside jobs got done.

Still dont feel like Ive got anything done! Lugged my bargain bags of JM compost to the car, and then from the car to the plot - 15 bags in total, the rest can stay at the house.
Cleared a 2m x 3m strip of couch grass from the allotment, feels like Im finally getting somewhere with it now. Still dont know if i can dig the dead, round-up treated grass in, so at the moment its sat in a big pile on some cardboard in the middle of the plot. Also uncovered about 30 lengths of rotten bamboo canes, think the previous plot holde must have used them to section off beds etc.
Oh and Ive also stripped the (house) beds, and washed all the bedding and blankets, as well as hoovered throughout!

Finally Feeling like the start
I spent a few hours down at the plot ,planted out 10 polka canes and moved my currant and gooseberry bushes to a new home on the border of my plot which has just been cleared by the committee of an old shed the previous tenant had.
Finished siliconing all of the polycarbonate panes into my greenhouse, then the wind picked up and there was no sign of movement atall so fairly hopeful at the moment.
Dug a trench and filled with compost /manure mix for my runner and french beans.
Put half of my onion sets into modules and left them in the greenhouse, the other half will go straight into the ground later in the season to see which produces the best results.
