  • Broad beans (Robin Hood) now all snug in their pots. Decided not to put them in the airing cupboard as the space is needed for the toms etc. They are now in the brick shed with the double glazed window. I will see how they go.

Ordered the gravel, which is due on Thursday or Friday from the local quarry 1 tonne plus the barrow service £80 and that includes delivery and VAT - bargain.

The kale I sowed a few weeks ago and forgot about in the shed has germinated - whoop!

    • Sowed the first of my flower seeds today. Dahlia, Cobea, Morning Glory, Rudbeckia, Busy Lissie.
Sowed some Rosemary, Lavender and Thyme.
Planted up a seed from the middle of a Mango.
All now in the heated propagator.

      • Thought I'd give gutter growing a try this year. I've sown a 1 metre length of peas, not sure what else to sow in the other length.
It's been great to be back in greenhouse I've given it a quick tidy up. Can't wait for the warmer weather.

        • Dead heading hydrangeas, picked up windfall branches from the lawn ( not my lawn ). Then some carrot seeds got sown in a bucket. Then I cleaned the oven!

          • Padlocked my allotment gate on my new plot and re-built the adjoining fence to keep an auld busy body off my plot. Swept up some broken glass caused by a greenhouse collapse.

            • Filled two 'brown' bins with another heap of ruddy leylandi branches that we'd cut down from the front garden a couple of weeks ago - it's a never-ending job .... And so far, doesn't look as if they've been touched, really, oh, apart from now we know there was a hidden street light waiting to be discovered!!!

I've run a few lengths along the fence which have yet to be filled, I plan to fill them with bedding plants.

                  • This morning I took all the sacks of woodchip I collected yesterday to the plot and emptied them into a builder's bag I had lying around. Almost filled it!

                      • Woohoo! Planted my first seeds - two broadbean seeds in pots on the window sill. Ive only had them once or twice, but my mum likes them - dont want to end up with a glut! Will sow a couple more in a couple of weeks. Went for sutton as a variety, hopefully they are ok.

                          • I managed to plant a load more tomato seeds, chopped off the ends of the potatoes for dinner as they are just starting to look at me and thought why not try them and used the rest for dinner. Cleaned up the back garden a little.
I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them

Some chillies - these are looking really well

                              And some tomato plants

                              • Yesterday I shifted all my seedlings around between the propogator, the growlight and one remaining tray. Its cleared up plenty of room for March sowings this weekend - I love it when a plan comes together

Forecast snow up here from 2am tonight until saturday (!) - think it will be a while until I get my chitted potatoes in, they're looking great though!
