    Potted some more ginger.
I did notice one of our winter broad beans (which we moved 3 weeks ago into a mini hugelkultur) has indeed got a flower! I'n better get some more seeds in for the follow on.

    • Walked to the library and back this morning which took an hour so got my walk out of the way.
After lunch I dug the bottom of the garden and planted out two drills of potatoes. Also planted up a half barrel and covered them all with black plastic..
      Weeded the onions and garlic.
Dug and weeded the front garden, daffs and wallflowers.
I am now feeling pretty exhausted but very satisfied with my days work.

      • Planted out 6 raspberries into the fruit tunnel:-
2 x Raspberry Black Jewel (Black Fruits)
2 x Raspberry Sugana (Red Fruits)
2 x Raspberry Gelbe Sugana (Yellow Fruits)

Planted 4 blueberries, gathered from around the garden, into an "acid" bed.

Planted 2 Rambling Red Stripe tomatoes into their final position on the shelf in the GH.

Did a bit of hoeing and raking and pondered how to plant up a long border with flowers and shrubs.
It felt like the warmest day of the year - 14C in the shade. Nice, very nice

        • Don't feel as though I've done much today...............I sorted through the leftover iron from the Munty and mustered up enough for 2 greenhouse door frames & doors. Managed to put together 1 frame which will eventually replace the existing doors on the kites. That's it.

            • Finally found the time to get down to the allotment for a little bit. Managed to get my raspberry bed ready for some polka and all gold to be planted, planted 2 redcurrants, 2 whitecurrants, a gooseberry, 6 strawberries and a few garlic. Got a honeyberry potted up at home.

Might not be a lot for some people but I'm a single mum working full time and recently been diagnosed with depression so finding the time and motivation to get anything done has been a struggle.
Definitely feel pleased with what Ive got done today

                • Ordered myself a compost bin today, 330 litre one.

Having just a compost heap is no good. It goes all over the shop and nothing is composting.

Probably yeah but from what I've read, these bins help speed up the composting process and I've been threatening to get one for a while. £24.98, delivered.

                      • Finally thinned my baby pak carrots. Hated every moment of doing it. I always have an irrational fear when I thin that I'm getting rid of the "good" plants.

Is your heap getting enough air and water?

You're right that a bin should give you compost faster, but a heap should still work if you're following the basic principles especially if your weather is about to warm up.

                          • Just sowed rainbow chard, salad burnet, garlic chives and King of the Black carnations. Out of pots now so the other seeds will have to wait.

                              • More weeding!

                                Still plenty more to do.
And the frustrating bit is that it's all the flower beds which we didn't get a chance to clean up a bit in the Autumn.

                                Mulch...deffo mulch this year!!
