  • Potted on a mystery leafy green and some carnations.

    Sowed some English spinach seeds.

Have decided to put curly and Italian parsley in the top of the strawberry pot but have no idea what to put in the 3 "pockets". They're deep but they're not very wide at all which kind of limits the options. I'm thinking maybe chives, garlic chives and dill.

    • Yesterday i planted my squash seeds, 20!!! spaghetti squash and 6 butternut. Put in a couple of angel hair but they are very old seed. Hoping to get a massive glut that will take me and friends through the winter.

Made a 1.5m by 1.2m little mini reservoir in the GH to put floating trays in to water from below and other watering duties, very happy with myself filled it put my plants in, came back in an hour and it was leaking so i sat on the floor trying to find the hole and then a lightbulb moment hit me and it is now a mini raised bed in the GH, i will plant a few courgettes and tomatoes in there for the winter, i hope.
I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them

      • New path!

Made an early start today and have put in a new path through the veg plot, to save trampling all over the growing space!!! Also managed to rake over the soil, so it's almost ready to plant in once I've added some compost to the soil! Feeling very satisfied right now!

          • Charlottes now in their huge buckets and in the greenhouse - bring it on tatty fairy I'm waiting!

Sorted out all my toms and gave a load to a lady who is having a go at growing but does not have much spare cash - she is so lovely any help I can give I will.

                • Had 40 min uninterrupted time in the garden after dinner so actually felt like I did something. Emptied compost bin into raised bed. Moved another raised bed surround to new place and got some cardboard/newspaper on it's base. Started working on path. Hand pulled some long grass that was hiding behind compost bin. Uncovered some rhubarb crowns that were hiding under a pile of wood - oops!

                  • This weekend we cleared up the rest of the strawberry runners and replanted as applicable. Sowed carrots beetroot and peas outdoor. Some tidying up and more digging. Today pricked out and potted up marigolds, cucumbers, and others.
Starting to look like we might achive something this season after all.

                      • Nothing left to sow at the moment so I seem to be spending most of my time hunting aphids.

Attempt number 3 at dwarf beans are starting to flower and the button squash vine is started to get buds. Attempt number 3 at zucchini has a tiny fruit but we'll wait and see what happens flower-wise.

I may get some "summer" vegies yet. I hope so, as it looks like it's going to be at least another month before I can plant out any of my winter crops.

Dalek was just delivered. Now to decide whether it's going to be a hot or cold bin.

                        • Sowed replacement brassicas as I knocked my last batch over last week before they'd even germinated!

6 x early Purple Sprouting Broccolli
                          6 x Cabbage 'greyhound'
6 x Kale 'Nero di Toscana'

Also potted a Lidl Cherry Tree 'Stella' in a temporary large pot....I promised Neil some plants named Stella after his Mum who passed away last June.

Split large pot of chive seedlings into four pots.

Carrots 'F1 Flyaway' are coming through.

Potted up 24 Borage seedlings that were getting too big for their modules and three perennials from Wilko ~ 2 x Echinacea, 2 x Echinops and a Geranium 'Johnson's Blue'

Had a few more seeds to sow but spent so much time chatting to my neighbour Tony who I haven't seen since last autumn....just like the swallows he migrates to warmer climes (Spain) to avoid the winter ....that I ran out of time! Mainly flower seeds and biennials & perennials so no mad rush - I'll get them done tomorrow afternoon or Thursday or Friday when I'm off work.

                          • Just sowed another 5 Brussel Sprout plants just in case when i put my other 4 in the ground they either die or the slugs get them. Just a back up really.

                            • Another evening spent on the project plot. Lit a bonfire. Started to rake and level the plot where I came across another sunken path. Dug up the flags and made a couple of piles of them for later use.

Laid five large sheets of cardboard and weighed them down with hoss muck.

                              • Spent the day over the plot conditioning the recovered bank (4th dig through) and was enjoying the sun until about 4 when the heavens opened!

Never seen such thick bindweed roots before and will have left plenty behind but it's weaker for my efforts. No longer the pumpkin bed either, going to use it for my beans. I can fit 5 rows width ways, well that's the plan this week.
