  • Admired my past efforts.

The capsicum plant I sowed in September which produced a pathetic 2 capsicums over summer now has 5 developing. The button squash has lots of buds and is about to flower. Attempt number 3 at beans is in flower and some tiny beans are growing. The cucumber and zucchini look like they'll also flower soon.

I may get my "summer" crop half way through Autumn, but at least I'll get a small one.

    • Yesterday i bought my first seeds of the year, and sowed cherry tomatoes and some herbs. I've also bought Anya tatties for planting on my new plot this Saturday, as soon as i've cleared enough weeds out the way.

      • Today I pricked out the last of the sweet peppers. Cleaned and packed away my heated propagator for another year.

        • Another 18 Parsnip seeds in the ground today, so that's 32 now. More to do tomorrow I'd imagine as more and more little roots appear.

              • Bought four 8 foot decking boards and dropped them off at the project plot. (Need a couple more!) I plan to use these set on top of the low breezeblock wall to build my summerhouse from. The timber is tanalised so should last a while.
Any progress on the plot was curtailed because it was cold and windy!

                • It was cold today!!! Thermometer said 7c yet there's been times it's only been around 4c and I haven't felt as chilly as I did today Extremely strong winds too so I only did a couple of hours on the plot.

Potted up 11 x white onions and 10 red onions which a customer had given me at work (cannot remember what variety so I'll ask next time he's in)

Potted up two packs of six Lily of the Valley and was pleased to find there were actually 15 pips instead of 12

                  Sowed my latest veggie seeds....

                  8 x Little Gem Lettuce
                  6 x Beetroot 'Boltardy'
20 x Turnip 'Purple Top Milan'

Had intended to do my tomatoes today and then realised they'd probably grow better (like last year) if I started them off on the living room window in a propagator. So got those to do later on...got six different varieties so need to decide which to grow as I don't think I'll have space for ALL of them

                  • Bought two more decking boards and dropped those off along with some joist hangers I bought at Wickes.
Sorted out my timber to make sure i had enough for roof spars..........which I had.

Dug up my rhubarb and took it along with a wheelbarow load of rotted muck to my new plot. Also took the frame I had around it and after splitting crowns up planted them within its original frame.Top dressed the whole lot with manure.

                    • Planted out a little orchard today - 7 apples, 2 pears, 2 plums and a cherry.

To think, I only popped into Lidl for some milk.

                      • More bitty things today-

Put the plastic back on one of the peach tunnels for the fourth time (need a better solution for next year)
Tried to fix a bit of wood back against a wall and fix a strip of wood to a post with sticks like s***.
Sunk 9 raspberry buckets in the ground.
Sunk the posts and buckets for the feed stations.
Put more silicone on the fittings of my water bottles......they will stop leaking
Raked over the compost patch and put fresh cardboard down.
                        Mulched around my currant bushes.
Swept some of the paths and picked up some of the glass and debris that has emerged over winter.
Sat and pondered (like ya do) what I am going to do with the bed next to the shed.
Stood and pondered won't it be nice when the tulips are out which are planted between the raspberries.

                        • Potted on about half of my tomato plants yesterday & nearly the rest today (there's some under lights that I haven't touched but they're good) It's difficult getting things done when it's school holidays, getting there slowly.

                            • Just sowed some broad beans. Chitting some in water and planting some direct into some compost, just to see which way is the best/quickest.

                              • Been out and sowed the rest of my Parsnips today. Got 97 in the ground altogether. They're all chitted seeds so i am hoping they all show.

Got bloody loads left though and have no idea what to do with them. Might see if the nest door neighbour wants any.
