    • Trip - you put us all to shame!
I did some domestic stuff and then tidied up the back garden, washed down the greenhouse inside and out (it is SO bright in there now), shuffled the plants in the conservatory around (warmer, better furnished greenhouse ) and finalised planting plans. Lawns still FAR too wet to mow

      • Yesterday:
Planted out the rest of my sweet peas
Pricked out and potted on rainbow Chad, calendula, rudbeckia, cosmos and candytuft seedlings. Just as well I only have courgettes and French beans to sow inside as I don't have much space left in conservatory!!
Pruned the fuschia bushes inherited in the garden and used the prunings to lay over the bare soil on the veg patch to put cats (including my own!) from thinking its a giant litter tray!

          • I've done bagger all as it's been far too cold.

            • Today I put my new azada/digging hoe to good use - its awesome! Managed to clear a huge chunk of the new plot in a quarter of the time it took to clear the same size on the other half! I also must have dug up 50+ huge parsnips that had just been left.

              • Between us hubby and I have built and installed our strawberry and brassica cages (from kits that we bought online), mowed front and back lawns (first mow of the year and the grass was far too wet but had to be done as some of the lawn was 6" long!), dug some manure into the bed where the runner beans will go, laid bark mulch in the borders and had a general tidy up.

All in all a thoroughly productive day spent outside in the glorious sunshine, life is good

Same here but not because of the weather, it's been lovely today. I've done sod all because I had too many beers yesterday. Haha, I'll never learn.

                  • Neither superlatives nor smilies exist to describe how good my day has been!

Eight solid hours in the garage potting up, practicing transplanting from seedling doubles, worrying about available windowsill space but then sorting it out, taking calculated gambles on what can go into the mini greenhouses. This is what April is all about!

                      • A sunny but windy day today which was great because it dried the ground out well. Sowed some dwarf french beans (and a few cheekily early non dwarf ones!) sunflower, basil and kale.

Spent most of the day lifting turf and digging.

                        • Potted on lots of things.
Planted shallots, red & white onions
Spayed off weeds on all the paths and round edges of the veggie patch.

                          • After a conversation with Mrs B. today I bought a packet of peas (having been promised that this year I wouldn't be the only one eating them). I hit the plot expecting to be able to finish off clearing the roots out of the old raspberry bed (bad idea to plant 'em in the middle of a bed IMHO) and getting the peas in. Instead I spent 3 hours trying to reinforce the £20 B&Q greenhouse I bought the other month. Windy plot - not matter what I've tried the plastic panes won't stop popping out. Latest plan is to put in wooden frame/battens inside and out and then screw them together - pinning the panes betwixt..

Have just braved the elements for you.............. I have suggested this many times but I don't think anyone believes me. This is how I've always held my polycarb panels in & have yet to lose one.

                              • Well I set the base for the green house square and level - unfortunately the ground is neither but I'll sort that out tomorrow.

Last time I was down I screwed the hinges onto the gate only to have the screws that came with them strip when half way in so no way in no way out - had to unscrew them with a pair of pliers and finish off the gate.
