  • I'm too old to remember what I did today but given time I'm sure it will come back to me..............

    • Popped out to Cowells and Dobies bought a few toms and chillies and a sweet potato.

Had a nice pub lunch then got home ready for a snooze. Got a phone call from the site secretary - the plot next to mine is available was I interested.

Of course I am - I've been dropping hints since I took on my first plot.

Comes with everything plus the the kitchen sink.

      Sorry that's a bathroom sink.

      5 loos.

      And a bath.

By the way do you want any more pampas grass? Take as much as you want.

Will do. You can't have too much pampas grass! (well, some allotment plots can!) There's also some mauve bottle brush plants down the bottom of the plot I wouldn't mind a clump of!

Got no use for toilet pans though I'm afraid!

              • Well I'm thinking of starting a bog garden.

No problems you taking a clump of it Snadge.

Would blueberries do well in a toilet planter or would the need a larger pot?

Could always just take a mel to them and use them as crocks or to line fig pits - although I really don't plan on that many figs.

                • I finally have stuff planted on the plot!!!
Put all my strawberries in, some look very iffy, just brown stumps with roots. Im hoping they are ok. Also put in some broad beans (tall and short), and put in some onions. The OH put in a load of sleeper thickness planks to create an edged area, and then dug out some channels for the first lot of spuds. We managed to put in some Estima and Kestral spuds, still got Duke of York and Charlottes to do.

                  • Done very little today. It's not been nice weather here today. I planted up my hanging basket, hopefully it will be nicely established when it's warm enough to go out. I put in hanging sweet peas, nasturtiums, pansies and poached egg plant ( don't know if they will be happy but we will find out)

                        • Well after big bro and SIL left after a lovely lunch, a couple of glasses of wine, could quite easily have just chilled on the sofa: however, the overgrown back lawn was winking at me cheekily "mow me" - so, a change of clothes and off I trotted to shed to blow cobwebs off the lawnmower. Labrador shadowing me, as usual, dropping sticks and tennis balls right in the area I was mowing. Anyway, a good time had by all and very satisfying end result.
