  • Just found whiteflies taking up residence on my lemon drop chillies (weirdly on nothing else... that I can see!) so have squashed what I could an sprayed with some soapy / oily water. It worked on the blackflies last year so keeping fingers crossed.

    No wonder they'd stopped growing!

    • I potted on my Etna Chillies and sowed two trays of cosmos and some morning glory (windowsills now groaning with seedlings). At the allotment I sowed some salad stuff under the cloche tunnel and some bulb fennel and cardoon in pots in the greenhouse. Everything has survived the frost - minus 1.8 C in the GH last night! Then more digging

        • Went and had my first ever casting lesson..Learnt loads!

Put the second lot of earlies in up the allotment, two weeks after the other half went in..
          But of weeding!
          Picked some rhubarb.
Back home, knocked up a batch of compost, sowed runner beans, watercress, sweet corn, pumpkins..
're-lit the greenhouse heater, and turned it down slightly for tomights impending frost!

You need some French Marigolds next to them ~ Gilly's cure for everything

What did I do today? Not a lot despite the sunshine Had a pile of stuff indoors that desperately needed done (to post off tomorrow) but got it all cleared and can now get stuck in to the allotment tomorrow morning after work Got a few seeds to sow, bulbs/corms etc to start off in modules (calla liles etc) and my veggie plot to finish weeding. Thankfully not many weeds so far, just seedlings really, but I want to get them removed before they start to grow properly and take over like last year!

Would blueberries do well in a toilet planter or would the need a larger pot?
Blooberries would be perfect or what about some loopins?

                            • Today i have finally cleared most of my massive u shape bed, pulled up some PSB as was totally infested by greenfly!! i had already got the best out of it.
Layered the empty bed with manure (rotted) and compost, it looks so dark and lovely ready for planting.
Given my newly potato heads a good watering
Potted on some tomatoes and peppers
Harvested some massive cauliflowers, i do not know what to do with

and got the 100 odd red onions which are starting to throw up seed head only just, realised that i will make some red onion chutney, shame they didn't end up bullying up.

oh and what i have forgot to mention is that i have about 30 some sort of pumpkin/squash that got left last year and now all the seeds have popped up near the chicken area, so leaving it so se hoe it goes.
I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them

                              • Had to re-sow some of my tomato's due to a cat related incident that wiped out about a third of my plants. So they are now nice and snug in the propagator.

I constructed 3 wigwams and a A frame at the allotment for my peas/beans to climb up
