    • Today I planted out Chrysanths and Sweet Peas. This freed up space in the cold frame to start hardening off young salad and brassica plants.

        • Cut some grow bags in half, stood them on their ends, punched a couple of drainage holes in the bottom of each half and planted a seed tattie in each one. Never done it before, will report how it goes.

          • Potted on some zinnias and some climbing petunias, and repotted some mange tout peas I bought from homebase. They look a bit limp but slightly crispy on some of the leaves, ive probably left them too long. Also deweeded (and de-potatoed) a big section on the new plot, will go over and cover it over with membrane tomorrow.

              • Probably got pneumonia because of the atrocious weather, but battled on and got all the roof trusses fitted to my Summerhouse. Had to buy a spirit level this morning as I wanted to make sure that everything was plumb in the area the glass will be fitted. I had left my spirit level at my project hoiuse and didn't fancy driving 20 miles each way to get it!Glad I did as Summerhouse wasn't quite plumb but after some gentle persuasion and releasing tensions on certain areas by removing screws I managed to get the frame square.
The next job is to start putting a roof on by utilising what's left of the ply and OSB board I have lying around.
Before I left home I sowed some Passion Fruit seeds taken from a shop bought Passion fruit. They may be an addition to my summerhouse in the future!

                    What did I do today?
Potted up 12 teeny Sweet Aperitif plugs that dropped through the letterbox.
Pricked out 12 courgettes and 20 BNS from the old seed experiment.
Went to H0meb@se and filled the boot with yellow sticker plants - pansies, stock, bellis @98p for 6 & 2 huge marguerites reduced to £1.50 from £8. Also some 50p herbs.

                      • Potted up my 5 'free tomato' plants that arrived yesterday, very frail looking.

Took my 'new old incinerator up to allotment, need to learn how to start a fire now!

Planted out some Savoy cabbages, gave some to the only other person who had made it allotments today.

Painted my old rustic bench, looks a horrible colour, hope that'll change as if dries.

Yesterday I planted up what seemed like hundreds of tiny carrot plants in2 containers.

Now I ache, and need a large G&T to help recovery

                        • Dorothy, I didnt know that carrots could be transplanted. Have you done this before?

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

                          • Today I planted out my final bed of potatoes. These are Cara tubers I saved from last years crop.

I noticed my early potatoes have poked their heads through the earthing up and have duly caught some frost. Oh well, they will soon recover.

I decided I hadn't started enough onions off from seed this year, so I bought a bag of Sturon sets from the allotment shop and put some of those in.

Then I planted a batch of gladioli and sowed some flower seeds before the first shower came and chased me home.

                              • Got the heating going in the greenhouse a couple of days ago and checked the last 2 nights minimum temps today. Lowest it's been overnight is 20 degrees, so potted up some of the tomato plants.
Finally got round to sowing some courgette seeds and started preparing a bed to lay the free seed tapes from suttons, but it started peeing it down, so retreated to the house and a nice cuppa.
