  • 18 tomatoes, 6 of different varieties, now potted up and in final positions, still more to go, but they are still too small.

Planted out, 2 Crown Prince squash, 4 Tondo courgettes, and 2 Zuccini.

Planted out a few Lollo Rosso lettuce, (cheated ones fron GC)

    Watered plot, so very dry!

    Pulled a few weeds.

    • Lots more watering - not alot else. My tomatoes are now getting bent as they are too tall for the blowaway - I'm hoping hoping hoping I can plant them out this weekend.

I've finally finished sorting out all my seeds - so now have a pile of things left to sow. Again I'm hoping the weather stays good enough to get these done this weekend!

        • Lots of tidying up at home yesterday - more lawn mowing, edges trimmed, flower beds weeded, rubbish cut back. Today, my grand-daughter was 'helping' with potting on tomatoes, wielding an old table spoon in the compost trug (a trowel is a bit too heavy for her). She was really enjoying it although watering is her absolute favourite. She no longer waters her feet quite so much, so we are making progress! We're going to tackle the cucumbers tomorrow but I shall have to distract her from the FYM.

          • I was full of busy today. Absolutely scorching on the plot and I just took my time and pottered along at my own pace. Didn't realise what time it was until Neil rang me at 4pm to ask if I was ever going to come home Will pop back up around 8.30pm when it's, hopefully, not so hot and lock up the greenhouse as I don't want to risk my precious tomatoes or melon getting a chill.

            Jobs I did today...

Planted out 21 onions that I'd been rooting in modules in tunnel.

Planted French Marigolds in-between the onion rows.....no particular reason; just like lots of colour

Planted six Borage seedlings on one end of row and Calendula on the other end.

Planted my Serotina honeysuckle up against the trellis Neil put over middle gate. Will plant the Julia Correvan clematis on the other side.....didn't want to do so until I'd checked it was ok in full sun (it is!)...so I'll plant that later on when I pop back up as it's a quick job.

Planted 80 Gladioli corms against back fence so hopefully they'll give us LOTS of lovely flowers and colour in a few weeks' time

Will take photos tonight when the sun is not so glaringly bright.

            • Trip to the local GC this morning where I bought half a dozen replacement strawberry plants and some bits to go in the hanging baskets.
Popped to the plot and planted out onions and shallots (the onions were replacement ones), as well as strawberries. Also put in a row of the small round carrots. Was planning on going back over this evening, but its chucking it down - just what the weeds need, warm and wet!

              • OK way to much yesterday but all listed with photographs at Alans Allotment: Sunny Sunday

Today, I have continued clearing up the back garden after the landscaper and fencing contractor finished last week, It's amazing how much dross was in the garden and between the sheds and the fence at the rear that has been replaced. I have also sown two trays of beetroot & two trays of spring onions and they are in the greenhouse, and I've got all the trays ready for more sowing and planting on my tomatoes as soon as the rain stops which is looking like Wednesday or Thursday.

                • Sowed the last of the broad beans. Planted out the first 4 french beans (a bit early but they were outgrowing their pots so though it was worth a go) watered all the seedings, potted on the summer and winter squashes. The asparagus crowns I planted 3 weeks ago are poking their shoots up and the early potatoes seem to have grown at least an inch over night!

                        • I had a productive evening at the lottie, after work! I wheel barrowed two loads of hoss muck and tipped in heaps. Planted a pumpkin in the top of each. Found two one gallon water containers, cut the bottoms off and used them as temporary bell cloches over the plants.
Decided to try and get one of the four mahoosive panes of glass fitted to my summerhouse. Screwed retainers around the inside and had retainers for the outside cut and ready! The elbow bracket securing one of the uprights was stopping the glass going into position flush with securing latts. I had to vertically lift the glass 7 foot X 3 foot X 3/8 inch thick and put a small sliver of wood under corner to position it correctly. Anyway managed to get securing latts fitted then gave both sides a good wash with copious ammounts of water to make it chrystal clear. Its so clear now i may forget itss there and try and walk through it!

                          • Dragged all salads from GH , planted some into troughs, also thinned out planted beets, spring onions , pak choi. Moved runners to GH, pulled bulbs from pots that's finished , hacked some oregano back , thing has gone mental over the years it's taking over, pruned back load of thyme doing the same, are some icecream and cups of tea, made a list of a zillion things to do in my head like pulling all plants from 2 beds to re compost and add some new ones (clay ground , whatever you add disappears ), enjoyed the sunshine and warmth which is unusual up here

                            • Dug over 3 beds.
Planted up my tunnel raised bed with 16 tomatoes, 2 cucumbers, 7 sweet peppers, 4 aubergines, 2 nasturtiums, 2 marigolds. still have to plant my basil.
Filled up a fish box with well rotted muck and home made compost ready for my 2 melon plants.
Directed sown 6 varieties of carrots in small tunnel raised bed.
Moved a palette into small tunnel and levelled it up (with a spirit level). Had to do this because little darling moles have made it all uneven.
