    • More ball carrots (Paris Market Atlas), another 2 butternut squash (Butterbush) and hopped from foot to foot when I spotted my broad beans had started to flower.

Now, please keep your fingers crossed as I am leaving ALL of my toms (shop bought as I am a pathetic tom grower) outside tonight as I can't be harsed to shove them in the shed!

      • I'm at the stage on my summerhouse build where I can work for hours and not see what i've done. All the fiddly bits associated with fitting a glass roof have taken a lot of time with not much perceived progress.
Progress is there though, and hopefully the first large glass roof panel will be fitted once all the preliminary supports have been added. Its looking rather good even if i do say so myself............I'll try and get a few piccies next time I'm there!

Inn the mean time a glassed front and open top is an ideal environment for hardening off my plants!

          • Just back from the allotment where I have been watering my tomatoes and cucumbers in the glass shed. Everything has grown a 'foot' since Monday morning (including the weeds)! Must have been the rain.

                    • Busy one today - took a rediscovered wormery up to the plot at lucnhtime . It had been forgotten in an overgrown area at the end of the garden - after 2 years there was a lot of mighty fine worm castings to harvest- even a couple of wrigglers still there...
Pulled out the worst of the weeds and bramble from the overgrown space. Knocked out a reinforced concrete wall so I could get a second dalek in to the space. (Love my sledgehammer - couldn't be without it...)
Sowed some runner beans - wasn't going to bother this year but changed my mind at (alomost) the last minute. 'Armstrong' - which I've not grown before.
                      Phew...

                      • Today I cleaned out ferrets, geese & turkeys. Doesn't count as not gardening ( but geese & turkeys do go towards making compost). Planted out pumpkins, kale, beetroot, cabbage, courgette and lettuce.
Potted on 2 chilli's. Sown more seeds, done some weeding, typed up sunflowers. Made a big curtain from spare tunnel cover for the back door of the tunnel to keep my chilli's warm ( the wind howls through their). Just need other half to put it up.
