  • Potted on my celeriac, and my chilli peppers.
Planted out my dahlias in the front garden.
Put up more supports for my sweetpeas which have buds on.
    Weeded the onions and garlic......again.
    Potted up some fuschias.
    Planted up another window box.
Had to abandon the gardening after that as it has turned into a miserable wet evening.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

    • Planted my micro tom plants into hanging basket.

The marigold seeds 'Mexican' I sowed into four small trays in GH. Quite excited about these as I've never grown pretty (any!!) plants before ...
The nasturtium seeds arrived this afternoon, but not got around to sowing those yet - that'll be a little job for tomorrow! Then just waiting for cosmos seeds to arrive!

Ooh yes, DH has bashed the beds firmly into the ground this afternoon, just need to order some lovely topsoil to fill them up now, then weather permitting it'll be action stations with sowing/planting out!

        • At the plot - planted out 12 runner beans and 3 courgettes. Fashioned a frame to grow my squash against - do squash climb? This is my first attempt at growing these ... I try to grow a new crop (well new to me) every year and this year I have got squash AND aubergines!! Then, borrowed the site petrol strimmer and cut back all the grass on the paths and all the rubbish around the margins of the plot. Then I weeded an onion bed, cleaned off some paths, weeded the strawberries and watered the plants in the glass shed.

At home, watered the greenhouse, potted on some tomatoes, cauliflower and romanesco. Sorted out the tomatoes and cucumbers for the car boot sale on Sunday. Soggy heap time!

            Mexican Marigold - Tagetes minuta?

Grows up to 6' tall and has small flowers. Attractive foliage with a citron like taste. Supposedly it kills bindweed and ground eldar.

            • When i got to the plot i thought the Parsley Fairy had visited. Turns out it was the Celeriac Fairy as a pot of seedlings had kindly been left outside the gh.

Filled up the 2 waterbutts in the gh. The sound of 200 litres filling them up doesn't half make me want to go.

Lacerated myself by moving some dead pampas leaves to the dalek - more to hide it for now. I've got enough for 3 daleks and that's without adding any greens - may try using it as a mulch later.

filled up the last compartments in the bed in the greenhouse and popped in a couple of sweet peppers.

Filled a couple of long planters for my cucumbers, constructed a trellis for them and planted them out.

Plumbed in the bed and planters to the greenhouse irrigation and stood back.

THEN I realised I had to take the cucumbers out.

THE TRELLIS IS HIDING MY COAT HOOK!!!

Went outside and build the frame for my french beans instead. I'm trying growing up strings for these instead of the nets used for the runners.

Went back into the gh and pricked out some skirret.

Back outside to do some weeding.

                • After a bit of a struggle..... I finally have a 7 foot X 3 foot sheet of plate glass set in the roof of my summerhouse!
I figured out the best way to fit it was to hoist it on to the solid roof then slide it crossway across the roof spars and turn it 90 degrees once close to position. It fit in its pre-prepared recess like a glove!

One down, another four to go!

                  • Did a bit of everything today in between horrendous showers.
Planted out some lettuce Lolla Rossa and Little Gem.
Sowed more spring onions White Lisbon.
Potted on my flat leaf Parsley.
                    Tied in my sweetpeas.
Planted out a few more Dahlias.
Spent part of the day playing out again, in again between the showers.

                    • Today I planted out sweetcorn (15 plants) and dwarf french beans (32 plants, far too many really). I'm a bit worried about cold temperatures coming up but they need moving out of their pots or they will stop growing.

Not veggies, but I also sorted out my sweet peas for growing as cordons, by tying the best shoot to the cane and removing all the other shoots except the second best (as a backup in case the slugs get the first one). Then I came home and planted out some bedding in the front garden.

                              • Finally got onto the plot after the kids were in bed.

Prepared a couple of planting holes for my small army of curcurbits. Erected the world's wonkiest arch, built a bean frame and planted a handful of flowers. Hammered in a couple of posts for the peas. Weeded and earthed up spuds.
