Just a bit of watering this evening and some petit pois peas were sown in a seed tray.Pleased to see my sweetcorn seem to be perking up now that I've transplanted them into large modules. Another week or so and they should be ready to go out.

After last nights monsoon and the 6 trips outside to gather 100's of slugs and snails I realised that the very large elephant ears plant was sheltering all of them.
So today said plant has been dug up, separated and 2 parts have gone out the front - nothing out there for the critters to eat and the mouldy rest has gone in the bin.
I will wait to see what tonight brings as the heavens have just opened again.

Afternoon all. Spent 4 hours at the plot weeding. And yes, it had rained. Hurrah! My peas are in pod, a drop more rain perhaps and they will start to fill out. Planted some more beetroot, thinned the turnips, hoed the onions. Tied up and armpitted the tomatoes in the glass shed. A local cat is using one of my leek beds as his personal toilet. I am going to have to devise a suitable deterrent. I know what I would like to do, but I am sure it is not allowed.
Came home, potted on some tomatoes (gifts for the family) and some aubergines (gifts for anyone I can foist one off on) and harvested a bunch of radishes and my first cucumber! YAY!

Tried doing the grass earlier, got rained off within 10 minutes of starting. Just enough time for the mower (cleaned last time around) to get plastered with wet grass and muck in the deluge that followed. Not impressed at all. I don't mind the rain, it was forecast to arrive today afterall, it's the timing that gets me. One minute it's fine, leading me to think I'd have enough time to get round, within just 10 minutes it's clouded over and I'm getting drenched.
Hopefully it dries up just enough to have another crack later on - if not it's set to rain for the next 3 days at least...

Well I set off with good intentions, but got obstructed by phone call after phone call! Youngest Daughter wanting a lift home having no Brass, then oh saying she had run out of her prescription! Don't ya just love "Famalies"
Didn't actually get the toms in place, but got the troughs set up!

At least may get a good start at it in the morning!

Today I've bought some grow bags, trays and a couple of grow bag blowaways. Tomorrow all the toms are going to their final positions.

Went down to get some pots to move my windowsill courgettes into bigger pots and also knock up the cheapo cloche (theres a trend here on my money spending). Thinking rain would stop play.
Got soaked so decided to hell with it and got cracking on my aim of getting one of the raised beds in. Turned out to be a bit more...
Used the cheapo (yes yes) battery 'sovereign' (queens birthday and all that) strimmer to have a go at beginning to get some borders back. Didn't really work but its chopped some things down which is a plus, for 20 quid I'm not grumbling.
Also got two beds in. Knackered but happy.

Phew, it was a humid one today! Lugged three 80lt bags of compost up the plot & filled one of the raised beds that has been dug out by Moley... Hes also dug up one of the paths, but thats easily squished back down.
Planted up 12 gladiator parsnips & put in a seed tape of another type, bit late I know! Sowed a row of spring onions, some lettuce type leaves, and the freebie radishes in this months GYO mag, along with a couple of bush tomato plants. I also put in a couple of sunflowers in the dead spots where the sweetcorn is, whether anything will come of them I dont know! Gave away a couple of tomato plants, and my left over runner beans, just some strawberries to rehome now.
Decided to clear the bonfire pile & bagged it up (just some ivy & chunks of old wood). Weeded the area & decided that it would be a good spot for some herb cuttings that have been languishing in pots, so stuck in some rosemary, thyme and lavender.
I then decided that it would be a perfect time to come over a bit faint! Clearly I dont do well in humidity....
