Today I've bought some grow bags, trays and a couple of grow bag blowaways. Tomorrow all the toms are going to their final positions.

      • I spent lots of time ladybird hunting at the lottie this morning. I scooped them up and put them on the leaves of my broad beans, which are becoming over-run with black fly. It is very satisfying watching them get munched

          • Admired three veg plots which are now full with everything planted out....pause for quiet gloat.. considered persuading OH to dig up lawn for yet another veg patch

            assisted mangetout to climb netting
removed a few lower leaves from g/h tomatoes to avoid spread of tom leaf mould
pinched out armpits of toms, puzzled over what to do with the one bush tom which thinks it's a triffid.
furtled unsuccessfully for new potatoes and am considering sacrificing one plant purely for curiosity's sake

            • Today, I looked outside at the rain and decided that I can't keep waiting for a dry day .... I went to the allotment in the rain .... needless to say, I was the only one there .....
I planted 3 pumpkins and about 20 beetroot seedlings and a few cabbage seedlings .....
Then strimmed the paths and weeds
Then sat in the shed with a nice cup of tea, listening to the rain falling ....
Then picked about 50 broad bean pods and about 20 sticks of rhubarb ....
I'll be going to the plot early mornings now, rain or shine .....

              • Got "Huggins" Done!

Reclaimed the Raspberry patch from the weeds! Tie'd em in as best I could!

The Garlic n onion sets in! Very late I know! But if the 10 bulbs of garlic let me create my own strain of "Casablanca" I'll be more than happy to be honest! & the onions! if I get I get, if I don't I don't!

But well chuffed with my efforts, think I am actually gaining ground, all recent events taken into account!

But promise me this! If I ever let my plot get this bad again, can someone take me out back & slap me around the back of the head with a big wet fish!.................

                      • You think D?

The only exciting thing in the garden at the moment is the 5 times a night.........................no not that but the slug and snail hunt.

How can a garden as small as ours have so many?

I'm beginning to feel the allure of matchstick models and loads of trips to the supermarket.

Again.............does anybody know how to grow rice?

                        • Late start today because of the rain but I've managed to direct sow some more sugar snaps and mange tout.

Got 9 tomato plants into their final positions and then realised that I'd run out of grow bag pots, more now on order.

Planted out Brussels x2, Kale x4, PSB x4 and......... 20 cauli and 16 cabbages before the heavens opened and it started hissing it down. Cauli and cabbages are WAY to close together so I may need to sacrifice some, we shall see

I now need a new back, I can't move lol hot hot hot bath is next on the to do list, when I finish this cider

                          • I put straw under my strawberries, weeded spring onions (long overdue!) and propped up my tromboncino and tomatoes. Ate most of my emerging peas..

                            • Finally dug over the mini digger compacted bit I've been wibbling on about in other posts. Not Seed bed standard but good enough for 10 squash plants. Put together a cheap obelisk I bought & planted some runner bean plants. Planted out some turnip greens seedlings, sowed peas, French beans, sorrel & lettuce. Wondered where to put all the brassica seedlings but didn't come up with an answer. Now for some watering & armpit picking (toms not me!) in greenhouse.
                              Another happy Nutter...
