Got about two foot down and the darn thing snapped. Ah well I'll dig it out after it grows back next year.

Pulled off 6 offsets, trimmed the leaves and planted them out to see if they grow. Of course I could end up with a bed of cut and come again root veg.

Pruned my Jersey Kale. Harvested some seeds and trimmed off the rest of the seed branches. Could have done with my lopers but at least I had my pruning saw.

Also picked courgettes, onions, my first red pepper (a sweet banana), my first habanero, French beans.

On the clearance of the back, I finally got to the carpet layer. Underneath that was an MDF layer followed by another carpet layer and another MDF. Looks like at least 1 carpet and 2 MDF layers under this. And this is what they built the greenhouse floor with.

    • Gathered a punnet of cultivated blackberriews from the plot

.Watered stuff that looked like it needed it. Some of the toms had wilted even though they looked damp at the base?

      • After sitting stuck to the chair most of the day, I noticed that it had clouded over
Grabbed my secateurs - new £2.49 Lids - and chopped loads of my new flower garden back. That's the second time since we planted it.
Also picked two bowls of tomatoes. This year will be the first without green tomatoes come the end of September.
Cut the tops off the four huge bags of roosters. Will get them out in the next 7 days.

        • Gave all in GH a thorough watering. Doused the GH floor with lots of water to help with the temperature in there today ....
Picked most of the ripened tommies, yet another cucumber ~ they're being thrown out at an amazing pace now .....! And emptied the container of Nantes 5 carrots which have been growing since March ...hmmm, hardly worth the effort...!!!
Weeded a bit, mowed back lawn and that was all I had time for .......

            • Almost forgot got myself a 25lt drum with the top cut off, perfect for growing chilli's in. Found it floating in the mouth of the loch when we went fishing this evening. So I rescued it and helped tidy up our seas.

                  • Pulled the last of my onions. Mowed my veggie garden, seriously short in the area my new greenhouse is going and covered it with weed control fabric.

I was hoping to lift all my onions today - but had an annoying rain cr@p fall on here most of the day. In fact still going.

Had a day off from the lottie today as I've been chopping and freezing courgettes

                        • My sister-in-law had eight good sized beetroots and the rest we have picked last night and managed to fill six large jars.

Cut down on cooking time by increasing the time in the microwave from 3 minutes to 4.5 to 5 minutes but it did make handling the pyrex dish a little tricky.

I'm going to save the large 1.14 litre Sarson's Ready Spiced Pickling Vinegar Jar for the gurkings I'm going to grow next year for my sister.

                          • Continued to dredge my drainage trenches ready for lining and filling with gravel. I'm thinking of covering the trenches with planks and then woodchipping over the planks to create paths.

                            • Spent the morning knocking up an external pond filter out of an old waste bin. Works like a dream & the water coming out of the filter is crystal clear. May take a while to notice any major difference in the pond though.

                              • Harvested all my potatoes that were in garden. Got 2 bucket fulls out of the ground which I was quite happy with. They weren't the biggest potatoes I've ever grown but they'll be lovely as new potatoes, roast potatoes and mash.

As soon as they were out of the ground i leveled the soil out and put all my winter veg in. Couple of broccoli plants (I did have 8 but most of them died for some reason), 8 Durham early cabbages for spring greens, 5 little Kale plants (1 looking a bit buggered though) and about 10 little tiny swede seedlings that i pricked out with a spoon as i thought they'd do better in the ground then in the rubbish compost i had them in.

Harvested another Courgette and then pulled out 2 of the 3 of my sprouts plants as they had all blown. Nee idea why. I had them all staked and everything. Kept one of the tops to eat at a later date.

Then, went and checked my tomato plants and there's more and more tomatoes ripening now. Decided whilst i was in there i might as well give them a nettle feed. Then hopped in the bath because i stunk of nettle feed which didn't go down well when i came back indoors.
