  • Got quite a lot done today with other half's help. Moved 2 fruit bushes, removed the little cold frame/ greenhouse thingy. Lots of planning how we're going to move the little Polytunnel and how we're going to build my new 8 X 4 shed out of an 8 X 8 greenhouse!!! I did a bit of pruning of some soft fruit. Replaced a fencing stake that I snapped off. That's about it for today.

Cut, don't pull. That way they'll make more leeks at the base

      • Thanks for the reminder
I must replant the stumps when I pick/pull/cut the leeks growing elsewhere in the garden. Somewhere there's a thread about growing your stumps in a glass of water

Harvested raspberries, strawberries, Pheasant Berries (nice but not enough), a habanero, and four of my pumpkins.

Then I saw that some thieving ££*(&%^$£**) (&"$(£( £("* £)("*) £(")( ) £"*()(£)"*(&&&%(£"£()"*&£!))&%" had came into my plot and picked my apple. Wired up the gate and padlocked the other. next week I'll have to get a chain and lock on the gate and wire up the fence.
By 'wire up', do you mean electrify?

I hate to say it, but with such a large plot I would seriously think about re-positioning your hard fruit and soft fruit beds away from the frontal area next to the main gate and entry track. They would transplant in the dormant season quite easily I would think. Just a thought, and by all means tell me to mind my own business! You know MOM knows best!

Unfortunately the area's chock full of glass so I have them in there as they don't need digging. There's a difference to picking something hanging over the fence and opening the gate, going onto the plot and picking it.

Fair enough. Kids would be my bet. Just trying to save you grief in the future, thats all.

I didn't nick your apple but must confess to doing quite a bit of apple scrumping when I was a kid myself!

                      • Yesterday & today. Shifted more poo, cleared another patch for garlic, pulled out huauazontle which has gone tough. Picked a few squashes & put in gh to cure. Cleared dfb in gh - experimental & not worth it.

Sowed some turnip greens, pak choi & raapini
                        Another happy Nutter...

                          • Got some of my umph back so done a bit this weekend. Some grass cutting, lifted a couple of echiums which have gone into a mass sulk, filled the holes with the spent muck from one hotbed, tidied one bed and sowed with wheat, started clearing some of the squash plants, pulled some sunflowers, tied in a peach tree I had forgotten I hadn't done, cleared/forked/topped the old onion bed. Collected some more flowers seeds, as the flower bed is next on the hit list!

                            • The Vit D pills must be working as I got some of my get up & go back........................nipped down to H0mebase for some bags of gravel, picked up some yellow stickers from Morrifellows. Laid some membrane on the pond island then covered it with said gravel.

Done a bit of red & black currant, raspberry and gooseberry pruning. Weeding round all of them and laying membrane around them ready for the wood chip.
