  • While I was waiting for the 3rd coat of varnish to dry on my 2 legged table, I started rebuilding our picnic bench . A job that has needed doing for the last 3 year, you know one of those jobs " he will get round to" . It's always good to watch him break out in a cold sweat when he gets home and finds lots of wood and his toys ( tools ) scattered all over the drive
All the wood is now cut, will put it together tomorrow! ....................hopefully ( fingers crossed boys and girl )

I mowed the grass as well.

Dare I ask how many legs the picnic bench has?

      • Auld age! I love it!

The weather was minging at the plot so I retired to the summerhouse and lit the woodburner. I must have fallen asleep whilst being mesmerised by the flames, and dreamed of what I should have been doing outside.
Half an hour later I woke up and it was too dark and wet to do anything!

          • The picnic bench will have the traditional 4 legs

Not promising the legs are going to be level

            • Started clearing a bed of raspberries and bramble and found a clump of sedum in the middle of it
Decided to fill this bed with "butterfly" flowers ready for next year's Butterfly challenge

Hoping for a fine day tomorrow to clear the rest of the raspberries, a holly bush, hazel and loads of weeds. Wish me luck!
This will leave an apple tree, lemon balm, fuchsia, sedum, hardy geranium, yellow loosestrife, daylilies and daffodils. Plenty of room for some more flowers

                      • Final coat of varnish on the 2 legged table. Picnic bench is well on its way back together and it's level!!! Just the seats and table top to go on. Not your normal slatted timber going back on, but some lovely home milled oak slabs that need a little sanding ( and then some ), cutting to right size while leaving a lovely natural edge. So another couple of days work. Done some weeding and started digging out the bed that needs shortening ready for the new tunnel.
